"If it all goes well, we might even need to do anything. Of course, this is the Legion we are talking about, so it's wise to keep your guard up." Damien said before pointing at a map. "Located here is a pre-war truck that contains dozens of barrels that are highly radioactive which is being held by the door of the container. If we could shoot it off or if we manually remove it, the barrels should bounce down into the camp itself and should completely wipe it out within a few seconds. It also has the added benefit of completely removing it for future use, meaning that the Legion has no path to ambush the NCR when Hoover Dam comes and losing a major foothold in the Mojave."
Sandy: yeah, but that would mean that the NCR wouldn't be able to use it if they wanted to. And you've gotta admit, they need all the land they can get. Jenny: You've got a point. Will: why not use fat mans? but with a lower yield bomb so that the lower radiation dissipates sooner. Jenny: Sorry Will but fat mans and mini nukes don't grow on trees. In fact, not a lot of trees grow out here anyways. Abbey: how about stealth? Go in and take them out slowly, one by one.
"Stealth might seem like a good possibility, but the Legion could just move more troops into Cottonwood Cove once it's been cleaned out because of the Legion's side. A mini-nuke might work, and I believe that I have some inside my armory at home. Of course, the radiation might not be enough of a long-term solution and the Legion would just move troops in still. And the NCR? Well...they're abit overstretched to actually make an important push for Cottonwood Cove." Damien replied sadly. "I just think that releasing the barrels is for the best."
Sandy: maybe so... Jenny: hey, why don't the veterans move in? You'd have a main base of operations to work in and you can keep the legion out. Sandy: yeah, we can do that but we need to take it first. John: I think I got it. Sandy: lets hear it. John: Well, if some of us attack the legion forces directly to distract them, then the more stealthy of us can sneak up behind and open fire on them.
"That sounds like an excellent idea. Also, I have an idea. I'll clean up the entire camp just for you while the rest of the Vets can practically move in and set up shop? " Damien replied. "That way, there would be no casualties and you won't waste any important ammo for keeping the Legion at bay. Sandy: he's got a point. Alright I'll talk to the rest of the vets and give them the lowdown. We'll drop you off and wait for you guys to kill the legion .
Absolutely c: (later at cottonwood cove) Sandy drops them off in one of the trucks and the group (Jenny, John, Will, Abbey and Damien) get ready to take Cottonwood Cove.
Damien hopped out of the truck, Sniper Rifle in hand as he quietly moved behind cover and looked through the scope to survey the camp and how exactly he was going to take it. While the others were hopping off, he had already surveyed the area. They were well beyond range from any Legionary attacks, so he could keep his head up and look at the rest of the Vets. "Alright. 50 Legionaries, 5 Decanus and 1 Centurion, who I believe is Aurelius of Phoenix. Amateurs..." Damien replied before looking at the others. "Just sit back and relax, call the other Vets and tell them that it's safe to start heading down here." The former Ranger then looked towards the camp. "I'll be done with this in a second." And like that, Damien vanished from the group like the ghost he was trained to be.
Abbey: oh great, where'd he go? John: who cares? If the legion get too much for him that'll be his fault. C'mon Will, let's get ready to rumble. (John and will get into position ready to cause a distraction) Jenny: alright Abs, I'm going now. (disappears) Abbey sets up her gays rifle from a sniper perch. Jenny sneaks up to the base and sees Damien stealthily taking out legion soldiers. It is then when John and will start firing to provide the distraction .
Damien was onto the Legionaries in seconds, taking out Blood-Nap and easily dispatching Legionaries from a distance. He rose behind one Legionary and after snapping his neck, slit the throat of the Legionary next to him. A second later, he reached for his silenced pistol and took down another six within three seconds with shots to the throat and neck. He then noticed the distraction being caused by John and Will, and noticed that the Legion seemed to head upwards towards them. "Damn, the silent treatment isn't going to happen now." Damien muttered beneath his breath as he threw Blood-Nap (Bowie Knife) across the area that soon buried itself in the back of a Legionaries skull and took out his Sequoia, unleashing absolute hell. Damien dodged and avoided Legionary attacks with ease, dispatching the Legionaries like it was nothing. By the time that John and Will would engage the Legionaries, Damien killed 80% of them within a few minutes. He then looked at the lone Legionary who decided to engage John and Will almost half a kilometer away and using seemingly superhuman accuracy, shot his Sequoia as a bullet caused the head of the Legionary to explode. Once nothing remained, Damien placed the gun back into its holster as he went back up to meet the Vets.
Jenny stayed behind to help the slaves who'd been trapped in chain link cages during the gunfight. Will called in Sandy and the vets telling them to move in. However a collective sense of uselessness was felt throughout the four who'd set up their plan because Damien had basically made them redundant.
Damien walked back up to the rest of the group and brushed some dirt from his black sleeveless duster. "Sorry about that, guess I got carried away there. As you already, I really don't like the Legion."
Will: it's alright dude. It's just that we were really pumped to help you out n' stuff. The veterans move their trucks down to the camp and start moving in and helping the slaves. Sandy is at the top of the hill by her truck talking to a girl in light grey armor about the vets and their their military style trucks.
"Don't worry, I have a feeling that we can help each other plenty when the time comes" Damien replied thinking about the camp and eventually, the Vets role in the Mojave itself. If they mobilised properly and had enough support, they could potentially take the whole Mojave over. But it seemed that it wasn't in their agenda or lifestyle, living as mercenaries did have its perks after all. "Oh my god....." Damien said quietly. Before he noticed Sandy, he seen her speaking to another woman as his eyes widened in shock. He took some steps away from the rest of the group like a man possessed. His body went automatic as he went towards her, unsure to comprehend if it really was her or not. He remembered reading his fathers letter, but couldn't believe his eyes. Sandy: (notices Damien, John and Will come up towards her) (Taylor) Excuse me a sec. Hey hey! I hear the vets have themselves a base of operations now
Damien couldn’t believe his eyes. It was really her, he walked slowly towards her until he was about ten meters away from her. Out of instinct, he took his Ranger Sequoia out of his holster and aimed it at the women with one arm, Taylor noticing this sudden movement by taking out a scoped 44.Magnum. Even then, she could believe how fast Damien’s movements were. The two of them pointed their guns at another for a moment as the desert wind blown across the area, silence and shock filling any of the Vets nearby. Then, Damien seemed to lower his Sequoia for a second while Taylor remained on guard. Damien put the gun away and walked over to her as if she was getting in a defensive stance. “The hell are you?” Taylor ordered. Damien then quickly ran towards the woman as she quickly raised the gun up to him, only to find that Damien was impossibly fast. Damien lowered the gun from her hand and while Taylor tried to attack him, Damien quickly did something that seemed to absolutely shock everyone nearby. He hugged her. Taylor was now confused as Damien closed his eyes to embrace the moment, a smile of sadness and relief was on his face. It was really her, everything led up to this very moment. “It’s you...I’m glad that I can finally see you for the first time.”
Damien hugged Taylor while the woman was confused about what was happening. The man hugging her appeared quite a bit older than she was, but wasn't sure about what had happened. Still, she thought that the man was hugging her for some reason. Damien then stopped hugging her as he stepped back, watching Taylor step backwards. "Who are you?" Taylor said before watching the man had the largest smile on his face. He looked at her with the largest smile of relief on his face. Taylor thought about what the man said before, then noticed the man. "My name is Damien Winters. I'm your brother."
