IMPORTANT Don't worry I haven't forgotten about this, the errors are THERE, they're NOT fixable and they will get worse. Why? We are currently on a shared hosting plan and are tied into such for a good more 18 or so months - No one, least of all me, predicted this site would grow so fast - We never thought we'd hit any limits imposed on us by our plan, but alas our joy is our downfall. As more and more people begin using this site simultaneously we keep hitting our database connection limit. This happens when more than say 25 people try and query the database at any one time (by clicking a link, posting a thread or anything interactive really - not WATCHING EPR), so if you can see where I'm coming from that's what is causing the never ending loads or 'hanging' as well as the database errors. Now of course, there IS a solution but that basically involves a new host/hosting plan and/or our own server, all of which cost money - From the start we planned to keep Everypony ad and donation free - we created the site for us, you and brony spirit - we didn't struggle financially and didn't need the support so thought it rather immoral to accept it. To keep this site up on a different hosting plan or a server will cost significantly more and it's fair to say the staff and founders just can't afford to fund it out of their own pockets, even if we wanted to. NO, Everypony is not therefore dying, I've spoken to Derpy Hooves and suggested several plans of action - He's going to talk to the rest of the staff and most likely the community at great length - we'll sort something out - I'm sure of it. Stay strong bronies and in the mean time, try your best to live with the errors - I know it's not ideal but the more time we can buy, the better chance we have of securing our future! Thanks, Grey
( Late reply... as usual. ) But now that you mention it, I have experienced a few moments on the site where it dragged significantly. It mostly occurs whenever I click a link to a topic, post a reply, and/or whenever I connect to the main page.
I was going to post something else commenting on relevant things. But instead I decided to change my post to emphasize the irony of the database error that came up when I tried to post my comment the first time around. EDIT: Also, my connection to you is terribly slow. No particular reason I can deduce.
