ok, i'll be honest. i'm disappointed with this news. not at Hasbro as much as to people that caused all this (there's also theory that it was all started by anti brony trolls to weaken brony community, but more about that on cheezeburger network). if Derpy was offending for some people, then please watch this cartoon: [video=youtube;zK2_50Z1gXU]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK2_50Z1gXU[/video] not only that Ed is by character completely Derpy like, but he's also one of 2 main characters. Cartoon is made for same target as MLP:FiM. In some episodes there are quotes that indirectly say that Ed is stupid (one that comes to my mind: Episode: Smarty pants: Buddy:"Ed has an IQ?!"). There are also other quotes that can be interpreted as someone saying that Ed's mentally challenged and such. And guess what, not a single person had problem with ed as character,nor his VA, nor any part of his personality. Back to mlp, as far as I know, there was literally mentally challenged pony in Weep and read, but no one saw problem there. On other hand, I didn't see any scene in canon where derpy would have been mentally challenged, or stupid. Clumsy, yes, but I don't see how that would be offending at all. Derp eyes?. well, as far as I know, I've known cartoon characters have had derp eyes in some scenes ever since I was child watching cartoons, way before mlp:fim. I don't see how this is "new" in cartoons, specially for goofy characters.

Speaking of clumsy, but I'm certain that the original Applejack was clumsy too. Why did I bring that up? Well, because she clumsy and she wasn't ban. Okay, it was in the 80's, but the point is you had a clumsy pony before, so what is the problem now? Just because a small group is pissed off (If that is the case, because we really don't know) doesn't mean you let them control you! If people are offended by Derpy, then Applejack and Zecora should be changed because one might offend the people in the south, and the other might offend black people.
"Derpy" refers to the eyes being crossed. "Ditsy" could mean clumsy, easily confused, or mildly eccentric. I act rather ditsy sometimes. Besides, they already named a pony "Ditsy Doo", my question was why they didn't just reuse that name if they couldn't officially name the pony Derpy in the show.
Alright, I have read through this thread and skimmed through some of the ridiculous, un-called for and sickening replies on ED. I'm not mad at them changing Derpy in that scene here. I'm mad at everyone who is getting mad at something that is actually not a big freaking deal!! Derpy is NOT dead, the episode was not (as some posters over at Equestria Daily have said on numerous occasions) "violated" or "raped" in any way! It is the same darn episode with the same darn character in it! Just with a few modifications done to her! It's garbage like this that make me want to leave this fandom entirely! Because, some bronies in this world have to take this show and fandom too freaking seriously over everything that get's changed! You know, sometimes I wish that they never made Derpy talk at all in the episode right from the get-go! This is the writers fault for starting garbage like this!! Also, if this is the backlash that's going to occur every time we get nods to us in the show, then maybe we don't deserve to have any more nods to our fandom in the show anymore! I'm sorry if I'm angry right now, but the thing is, when I came in to this fandom, I don't think there was any complaining about stuff like this. Everyone actually loved and tolerated everything this show had to offer. Now? not so much anymore. This is NOT the fandom I got in to back in March of 2011! As of this post, I'm done with this place until this ridiculousness is long past! Goodbye!!
The UnDerpying is Fine with me and the fact they didn't call her derpy is fine as well but to me since she will always be derpy hooves. But the voice sounds something like a fan dubbed would be. Not crazy for the new voice but what you gonna do. Just have to get use to it.

I just say the same thing I did the first time I heard of this controversy. This is the most stupid thing I ever heard in my life. I have no problem with Derpy's new voice, but I don't like changing the eyes. Changing Rainbow Dash's diaglogue just destroys the flow of the entire scene though. She is also out of character the entire scene, this is my greatest problem and it's glaringly obvious compared to the perfect dialogue in the rest of the show.

I'm sorry, fellas and Pegasisters...I just can't see her as the same pony any more...the new Derpy, is NOT Derpy. They won't CALL her Derpy, they won't let her eyes look like Derpy, she can't even SOUND Derpy... You know what I find hypocritical? The fact they are teaching kids lessons and...what lesson is this? That we should be afraid to offend any one at any cost? I'm disabled, and THIS, this right here, THIS offends me! THIS! THIS, THIS, THIS! Having people assume Derpy is disabled and that she isn't just clumsy! I will not be able to sit here, and tell you that THAT edited version is Derpy "Muffin" Hooves! Where's the belief in what you think is right?! When can people stop being business men long enough to defend the innocence in things?! The thing about this show is to teach us to ACCEPT others! Not do this!! This is, regrettably for me, the first sign of the show jumping the shark. There used to be a connection between what we fans loved and the creators. They could have stood up for us as fans and said to whoever made the order for this, "NO! We believe in what we've created." But they didn't even try. They sent out a generic damage control message telling us to cool it. Not "We will fix this" or "There was absolutely NOTHING we could do, and this blows, and we won't jjust sit here and lie about that fact." No, just "You bronies need to remember your motto"....OUR? IT WAS FAUST'S VISION! WE PRACTICE IT BECAUSE WE EXPECT THE SAME LOYALTY SHOWN TO US IN RETURN! It was a marriage between show and fandom of trust, and they didn't do the right thing and be honest with us, I feel.. They could have handled it a better way! I'm sorry...I'm trying to love and tolerate, but...I feel all my love and support for the show has gone unappreciated in all of this ):
I'm so upset, Derpy is my favorite pony. And forever will be. They also did a horrible job of editing in the new voice and editing out when Rainbow says Derpy. :-\.
