You're always free to be a true brony (however you define that) whatever the fandom becomes. Integrity is an individual value--indeed, it's the chief individual value because it liberates you to live however you like. If you have that, the rudeness of those around you is irrelevant.
It seems to happen with every fandom that reaches a certain size. It gets big enough and it attracts louder, more undesirable fans that seem to only exist to make the fanbase look bad. Its nothing out of the ordinary, though it is sad to see.

There is plenty that cares and are loving too though and I'm sure all these "jerks" will soon find out the message. It's just that there is new bronies born all the time so it may be hard to notice.
