I absolutely LOVE Derpy. She's really cute, and funny. I dislike it when people take things like her too far. Not every Pony in Ponyville is perfect, and I reckon that Derpy is just there to show that, in a clean, and non offensive way. Right?
I hope they keep Derpy, but if they can her, I won't be too upset. The show has so many strong points that any negative would be over-looked to me.
>I really could care less That kind of means that you do care. Quite a lot. If you are capable of caring less, that by definition means that a significant amount of caring has to already be taking place. Now, if you couldn't care less, that's a different story. That means the amount of caring is at the minimum and no more apathy can be shown. Sorry, need one smartflank post everyday to blow off some steam.
XD Hehe.... Yea. But in all seriousness. Derpy? Hasbro loves her (I do too, but I don't matter :C) so I don't see her leaving anytime soon. No telling why she's not in the season. Maybe they're trying to have parents and everyone forget about her so that she can have another talking role next season. Never know.
i dont get why people fing derpy offensive. i think its offensive to call her offensive. she is loved, cute, and HAPPY. whats so offensive about that?
Might as well take this opportunity to publish my entire opinion on the Derpy situation. :derpe: I'll be honest. I was really excited at first when I saw her get a speaking role, but once the rush had worn off, I got to think about it with a clearer head. Derpy's role has always been that of an easter egg in the show. Her silent gags have always been good for a chuckle and finding her in an episode is not unlike a game of Where's Waldo. Then suddenly there's the idea of her talking... I started to remember what Charlie Chaplin said about his character, the Tramp, when he was suddenly under pressure to make a "talkie" starring the aforementioned character; "The tramp can't talk. The minute he talks, he's dead" I think that applies directly to Derpy as well. Soon as she got a speaking role, no matter how fleeting, huge controversy erupted. I, like the rest of you, have heard both versions of her voice and honestly I prefer the second version. Reason: The original voice makes her sound extremely stupid. Her eyes are crossed, so there's going to be some unavoidable clumsiness, but I don't think that means she's dumb at all. Honestly I don't think any bronies would have reacted so terribly to the second voice if it had been the original instead. That makes it less of a voice issue and more like a "Han Shot First" issue. Of course I wouldn't go so far as to say the first voice "offended" me personally, but I think it does sort of insult her intelligence. Or maybe she's actually really dumb, I guess it depends on who's FF you're reading that day. I like to think of her as being of sound mind myself. Personally I think that if the show creators couldn't stick with just one voice and leave her alone after that, then they should have removed her speaking role entirely and let her remain her usual silent self. All my humble opinion of course.
