How many people here play Doom? You know, that FPS game from 1993 that completely popularized the FPS genre and paved the way for PC gaming? Not only is it fun to play coop online, but other modes like Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Last Man Standing are playable too. Doom can be played in higher graphic settings using GZDoom or Zandronum, which are source ports that enable Doom to run in HD and at high frame rates. Zandronum allows you to play online and download mods, which are still being made do this day.
Ah yes, I remember Skulltag back in the day. After incidents with the staff and creator, Skulltag was ceased and the remaining staff took the source code and re-released it as Zandronum. If you miss it, why not download it and play online?
I started playing Doom when I was 4-5. I joined Skulltag back in early 2007, then got masterbanned by late 2008. I came back in early 2010 as a completely new person, and I'm still playing on Zandronum to this day as Swift_. You can usually find me on either the Deathrun server, or GvH:LoD. I hardly ever play on any other server (I especially avoid MM8BDM and AOW2 :derpe. I've been also messing with ZDoom based sourceports ever since the age of 10, starting with simple things like programming health counters for monsters, creating new monsters and weapons, making 3D models, etc. Although now I want to move in towards more complicated stuff. My latest creation was a stereoscopic, side-by-side 3D hack written mostly in ACS. One thing I must ask though, can any of you make mods? DECORATE Scripting? ACS programming? Mapping? Spriting? I'm glad I found some Doomers here, but what would be even better is to have someone I could discuss modding with. View attachment 7320
Once in awhile I try my hand at map making, but I never stick to it and finish anything. I have some good ideas, but the lack the experience with ACS and Decorate to make them happen.
