"I dunno. Sounded fun. An adventure with a mysterious unicorn I've never met? Epic. Also... My brother, one of the royal guards, wanted me to watch over you? I don't know why, but... Whatever. Just another reason for me to go." He starts to skip slightly before settling down. "Maybe he was worried I'd accidentally kill you with my magic like that one teacher... nah, that would never happen three times."
"No, more like he either wanted me to make sure you stayed safe, or to be sure to be careful not to kill you."
"If you say so." Scale shrugs and continues. "Why do I have a feeling some ponies turned down your offer before I came along?"
"Because ponies are scared of dragons... For some reason...", equinox replied, the second part quieter
"Ha. Pansies. Dragons aren't worse than a rampaging chimera, or an Ursa Major, or even an over-exuberant gryphon. But really in the end they're all just lives trapped in the endless dance with doom." He chuckles and looks up at the sky.
Equinox looks at her compass, then turns 45 degrees to the right,"a mountain, north east of Canterlot... It's believed to hold a few drakes..."
"Ooh, nice. Think I went camping there once... almost turned the thing into an active volcano." Scale looks reminiscent for a second. "Good times. So, whats the deal with drakes? Aren't they the ones without arms or something?"
"Nah, I meant running. I could use a bit of a workout. Hey, maybe even a race. I think this cannon is enough of a handicap for you to stand a chance." He laughs and smiles at her.
Equinox raises an eyebrow,"you know my magics are enhancements right now, I can just make myself faster..."
"And I can literally put the wind behind me and move the earth beneath my feet, what's your point, cupcake?" Scale laughs and runs his hoof through the dirt in a challenge.
