I am well prepared to eat my words. As well as everyone else should be. After all, the things we've been saying about Equestria Girls are the same things most of us said about MLP before we watched it.
Well, still we have to remember, the biggest factor in making the original show decent was not Lauren Faust. But Lauren Faust having the GUTS to say "F your stereotype filled garbage, we're starting fresh.", take that factor out of the equation, and basically, Hasbro has the idea back in there heads that girls like pretty princesses and romance. Hasbro is like Capcom (Destroying Megaman, and Rebooting Devil May Cry) and Marvel (Superior Spiderman), when the fans say "DEAR GOD DO NOT DO THIS!" and they do it anyway, it's destined to suck
Apparently Equestria Girls will be a feature length animated DVD (Which probably means it'll just be Direct-To-Video, no theatrical release and probably a one-shot airing on HUB just because) instead of a spin-off show. So chances are that this'll only be a one time thing.
I still want to know if the Equestira Girls song is going to be the theme song for the Equestria Girls DVD.
According to Equestria Daily, it looks like Equestria Girls might be see a theatrical release. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2013/04/equestria-girls-airing-on-15th-of-june.html Of course it could only be for certain areas. I assume a DVD release will follow right after. But seeing pony on the big screen would be awesome, as long as Equestria Girls doesn't suck.
Daniel Ingram pretty much confirmed on his Facebook that he is doing the music for it. So at least that has good potential to be good. Wonder how many of the other FiM staff is involved and just haven't said anything yet?
I think it'll only see a theatrical release in these select theaters, and no where else. I do believe they did the same thing for the Tekken Movie. I'm still positive that Equestria Girls will get aired on HUB before being released on DVD.
I'm actually reserving my judgement because I have I feeling I'm actually going to enjoy it upon its release.
I'm skeptical about this project as a whole, but I am still going to give it a shot. I mean, the majority of us originally thought that MLP was for little girls (me included) but we gave it a chance and fell in love with the show. Who says the same can't apply here?
