I have an interesting question I think we all should think about for a minute. Did all the bronies who liked Equestria Girls actually like it for the movie itself being good them? Or did they just like it due to the pony drought being so long that anything that Hasbro puts out looks good to us right now? I personally thought the movie was decent enough on it's own. Still, something I'd like to think about.
As goofy a concept as it was, I was looking forward to it and was not disappointed by it. Yeah, parts of it could have been done differently but you don't seem to hear the demographic complaining about it. Overall, it was very well made and I commend the creators (but not necessarily Hasbro) on a job well done.
Spoiler: Spoilers Being a Majora's Mask fan I just noticed something. Equestria Girls and Majora's Mask are both spinoffs of popular franchises. Both had a smaller development team, and span. Both had a three day limit. Both reintroduced old characters as new ones. Both seem to be liked less than their big counter parts. Both are side stories. Both involve the main character searching for something important. And both end with a fight from a creepy demon.
Great, now I'm just imagining the movie with Legend of Zelda characters. There goes my whole day's worth of concentration.
Well it certainly helped with the drought, but I for one enjoyed it. As with the show, I went into it giving it a fair chance with an open mind, and found it to be an enjoyable movie.
yeah and then I'll miss Summer lol I'm very picky! - - Auto Merge - - Also super excited for Season 4! Wonder what the stories will be, hopefully something cool! (hoping for more Discord myself and for some backstory on AJ's parent's and Rainbow's too for that matter)
I personally really enjoyed the movie. I went in with a healthy dose of skepticism, believe me, but the plot was believable and I found it to be enjoyable all around. Just my two cents.
since I just came back to everypony, here's what I think of EQG: - Story and overall, movie wasn't so bad. I'd put it in rank of average mlp episode. - it was kinda made along guidelines - however, it was pulled off good - character design was good as well. even humans looked cute. - overall 4/5.
Hello, everypony!! I haven't been here in a long while, but I'll go ahead and tell you what I thought about "Equestria Girls": Overall, it really exceeded my expectations! The characters acted like their normal selves, there were references galore, the kind that fans would definitely catch (ex. Spike trying out a mustache, Fluttershy's yay), funny scenes such as when Twilight is adapting to being a human, great cameos from the show, and an unexpected plot twist at the end. As for the little romance part, it wasn't really a big part of the story, which I was okay with. Speaking about the love interest: Spoiler: Don't read if you haven't seen it yet!! His name is Flash Century, and is revealed in the end to be a new member of the royal guard, and was also the one who announced Twilight's name when she arrived in the beginning. I actually wouldn't mind at all if he becomes a new character in season 4. As for the plot twist: Spoiler: Don't read if you haven't seen it yet!! Sunset Shimmer is actually a gargoyle-like creature who wants to take over both the pony and human worlds. But the girls undergo Sailor Moon-esque transformations (growing pony ears, wings, and tail extensions) and use the magic of friendship to defeat her. She becomes human again and stays in the human world so she can learn about friendship with the other five. And possibly the biggest spoiler of all...: Spoiler: ESPECIALLY don't read if you haven't seen it yet!! In the very end of the credits to the left, a human version of Derpy Hooves appears holding a muffin. Every brony and pegasister in my theater went bananas over it. The producers were obviously thinking about us when they put her in there.:derpe:
