Everypony Radio - Chapter 3 Great Bolts of Magic

*boom boom boom* it would repeat to a rhyme as the ponies started round the cart to find its source.
*baw baw baaaaaaawwww* also joined in with the noise making a back beat to a track
*Da DAAAAAAAAAAAA daaa daa* Came a third to the back beat as Grey lifted the inspection
hatch to look under the cart. What the group saw, was something unknown. As the strange noise made a beat to its rhyme, bolts of pure magic arced from the back axle to the next one and then into front axle.
“What IS THAT!?” Seralth called out as he tried to hide in his covers
“Pure Magic” Grey responded “This is not--” He was cut off as another bolt of lighting shot into the cart and into the the radio equipment, after a few seconds, a new noise came
*Babababa* but out of the speakers as all the ponies stared in horror as the pure magic crackles around the coach
“Twlight, with me!” Ordered Grey as he ran to the front of the cart to see the magic working its way up each side of Hex and the two mares “HEX!” he called out.
Hex’s ears twitched and started to turn his head as the magic jumped from the harnesses to him and flowed all over his body, causing his mane to become part lighting and bolts of magic shot from his tail to the cart joining in the the beat of sound being made
*bang bang bang*
With doing so the cart jolted as Hex pulled on the harnesses to build up the speed
“LOOK HEX! WE CAN’T GO AT YOUR SPEED! SLOW DOWN FOR US!” Rainbow Dash yelled out over the noise
“RAINBOW DASH, APPLE JACK!” Twilight called out
“YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO TRY AND MATCH HIS SPEED GIRLS!” Grey called out as well “SOMETHING IS GOING ON AND I DOUTE HEX IS STILL WITH US”
“WHAT YOU MEAN YOU DOU---GAAHHH!” Rainbow Dash looked behind her to see the off white pegasus with pure rage in its eyes as it ran, its wings open so she could just see Grey and Twilight. The lighting was shooting off everywhere and down to Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack.
“WHAT IN THE HAY IS GOING ON!?” Apple Jack called out as the lighting jumped from the harnesses to them, it taking to Rainbow Dash and flowing though her wings and mane just like Hex but rejecting Apple Jack
Twilight and Grey could just see Rainbow Dash fighting the lighting as she tried to out run the large pegasus and Apple Jack look around her in horror as the lighting shot bolts around her and aim to where pegasus wings should be.
“DON’T FIGHT IT GIRLS! LET IT TAKE OVER! I THINK IT HAS WHAT IT WANTS, IT JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT ELSE IT HAS!”
“WHAT IN THE HAY DOES THAT MEA-” More bolts darted round Apple Jack “GOLLY”
Grey and Twilight stared at the three, seeing the magic engulf the two pegasus and reject the earth pony. A short while after sparks formed at Hex’s and Rainbow Dash’s hoofs as they ran.
“MPR” Grey said to himself “Twilight!?”
“Yes” She couldn’t look away from her friends and felt so helpless to them
“Do you know the ‘Flight Spell’?”
“Yes, I did it once before, why?”
“Good” Grey gave her a wink and called into the cart “Vinyl and Rarity, can you give us a hand”
With in moments all four unicorns were staring onto the running pegasus and after a brief explaining of Grey’s idea, started to perform the spell with Grey leading.
Apple Jack ran for her life as the two pegasus kept hot on her tail and the lighting shooting from each side of her, what happened next, she felt she should just give up as the blue ribbon like magic engulfed her, picking her off the ground.
Grey and the others put all their power into the spell, this was no normal flight spell, it needed to be beefed up a bit to cope with the soon to stresses that were going to be put on the magic wings. After a few moments, the ponies from the cart dragged Vinyl and Rarity back in leaving Twilight and Grey staring out onto the pegasus to see Apple Jack running with the lighting flowing though her mane and tail like Hex and Rainbow Dash. Grey looked harder to see if the spell had worked and saw the stronger wings in place of them butterfly ones the spell normally gives and smiled.
“Golly” Apple Jack said to herself as she flapped her new wings, completely forgetting about the running for her life till Rainbow Dash called out.
“VERY NICE APPLE JACK! BUT WE HAVE A STALLION PEGASUS HOMING IN ON US AND WE HAVE TO OUT RUN IT, LOOK AT YOUR WINGS ANOTHER TIME”
Apple Jack agreed and ran for it finding it easier to keep up as the wings took some of the load from the legs. Grey noticed sparks now coming from Apple Jacks hooves, showing the spell had indeed worked
“GREY!!” a voice yelled from inside the cart as it jolted as the magic from the cart took over all three ‘pegasus’ ponies and built up the speed needed for the MPR.
Inside the cart was a mess, Fluttershy cared to the exhausted Rarity, as did Oatmeal to Vinyl and Pinkie Pie held onto Seralth as the magic lighting shot jumped from the axles to the radio equipment causing a heavy beat to come from the speakers. Grey used his magic to put the hatch back in hopes of controlling the pure magic, pulled the doors shut on the beds so Pinkie Pie and Seralth were locked into Seralths bed, Vinyl and Oatmeal in Vinyl’s bunk and Fluttershy and Rarity in Oatmeal’s.
“Sorry to lock you in, but its for your own protection” Grey looked at all the ponies as some of them stared back looking for answers on what was going one “I believe due to the number of Pegasus we have and the speeds we’re doing, the Cloudsdale wood magic is leaking out and its....” Grey thought for a moment “Overtaken Hex I believe, all we can hope is that Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack can keep up with him, but there is a good chance they have been overtaken by the magic as well” The whole cart jolted, Grey and Twilight steadied themselves and the others secured themselves in the bunks. Fluttershy looked out of the window to see the cart wheels rotating as some speed, in her quiet voice she speaks out
“We need to go faster for this to work”
“Meh” Rarity raises her head to see what Fluttershy just said and saw the wheels rotating at a high speed as well.
The Cart jolted and twisted more as the lighting shot round the cart, off from the radio equipment or the beds, till a massive bolt shot out to Fluttershy, causing her to give off a high pitch scream.
“I’m so sorry girls” Grey left Twilight to check on Fluttershy who had not been harmed by the magic after it stuck her, so he could check on the three ponies pulling. Outside he could clearly see that Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash had follow suit and were in a similar rage trance like Hex but only Hex and the cart where still running along the ground.
“How is it going girls?” He called out hoping for a reply
“JUST DANDY!” Apple jack called back
“WE’RE OFF THE GROUND! HEX AND THE CART ARE NOT!!!” Rainbow Dash yelled out.
Grey felt Hex or the magic heard this as the cart jolted as Hex snorted, because the next thing Grey knows is that only the far back axle is on the ground. Sparks and lighting are shooting off in every direction like two pieces of metal grinding together as one final bang is produced and the whole cart joined the three ponies onto the MPR and starts to gain height.
“APPLE JACK! FLY UP!” Rainbow screamed out to her friend.
Sharply the cart climbed faster to the ideal heights that pegasus carts flew, but flying at higher speed then normal causing other airborne traffic to dart out of the way as the cart leveled out. Grey checked on the inside of the cart as he felt Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash were ok to lead and Hex along with the magic had backed off from the girls.
Inside the cart, the noise and lighting had calmed down to a background beat and the odd spark here and there. Seralth sat in his bunk grinning from enjoying the manic ride, Vinyl had regained some strength along with Rarity as all the ponies looked to Grey for an answer.
“We’re flying aren’t we Grey?” Twilight asked as she removed the screen designed to keep her in the bunk.
“Yes, yes we are” Grey replied as he stared out over the land that now laid below them
“You telling me Hex was telling the truth? this old thing is FLYING!” Oatmeal called out as he climbed out from his bunk into the gangway “You’re crazy to say that Grey”
“Look out the windows Oatmeal” Pinkie Pie piped in “You’re crazy not to believe it”
“So now what?” Seralth asked to the group.
“I guess, we, go to Ponyville, and think about landing” Grey guessed “Twilight, come with me to outside”

Twilight stared at the ground, she never took it in first time round when first going to Ponyville, but due to the off white Pegasus, she could see all the sights she missed. She also noticed the sparks and magic had backed off from Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack as they flew along but it still flowed with Hex’s mane and tail.
“Grey?”
“I hope Hex come out of this trance soon, we’ll need him to land”
“Think he will?”
“I can only hope”
With that, the sparks and lighting built up within Hex’s mane and around the cart as a new strange noise started happen above the cart, followed by a sudden thud.
“GUYS!!” A voice from no where called out “Derpy sent me to help you”
Twilight could just see a blue box with a brown pony looking out of it but just hear him over the noise of the magic
“I can help He---” He was cut short as a bolt of lighting jumped from the back of Hex, into the blue box, causing it to go wild inside. “Never mind gotta dash” The blue box just disappeared off the back of the cart into thin air. Grey and Twilight stared at this strange happening only to ask together.
“Derpy sent you?”

For a while the magic calmed down around Hex and the cart but he still seemed to be under its spell till a voice belowed out
“TAKE ME CLOSER! I WANT TO SEE THE SKIN BELOW HIS COAT!”
Both unicorns looked other to see another pegasus cart slowly pulling up along side carrying a face Twilight knew well.
“Ironhoof?” She called out
“GOOD TO SEE YOU TWILIGHT” His voice boomed across “AND YOU HEX! ITS NICE TO SEE YOU CAN GET THAT OLD CREATE TO FLY! I KNEW YOU COULD PULL SOME HEAVY WEIGHTS WHEN YOU PULLED THAT TRICK CART ACROSS THE MANSIONS GARDENS!” Ironhoof yelled at Hex in his normal voice.
The two pegasus pulling Ironhoof’s cart saw it was Hex and started to have a laugh remembering that he never made it to be guard but took a double look and saw that he was mainly pulling the cart himself and the two mares were just leading him, and his face as full of rage and anger as he stared at them causing them to bolt up right and stare dead ahead.
“I’VE ALWAYS BEEN PROUD OF YOU HEX! YOU WERE NOT MEANT FOR THE GUARDS, BUT FOR FIXING AND MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE HAPPEN! THATS WHY YOU GOT GIVEN THEM WINGS! NO ONE ELSE IN YOUR BRANCH OF MY FAMILY! JUST YOU BOY! I’M PROUD OF YOU!” Ironhoof shouted to Hex before turning to the two guard pegasus “GO BOYS! HOME!”
Ironhoofs cart took off and about turned to return from where it came from.
“BYE TWILIGHT”
“Bye Ironhoof” She replied quieted and looked at Grey who just held the face of ‘what the hay is going on?’
“Who was that Twilight?” He asked noticing Twilight had been staring for sometime at him
“Ironhoof, Hex’s Grandfather”
“Okay, did he say he was proud of Hex?”
There was a sudden jerk and Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack screamed for a bit.
“WHAT WAS THAT!?” Grey looked around and only counted two pegasus pulling the cart
“HEY HEX! YOU WORKING BACK THERE!?” Rainbow Dash called out “BECAUSE ITS GETTING HEAVY HERE!”
“NO HES NOT RAINBOW DASH!” Grey called out as he looked down at the ground though were Hex should of been and saw him falling “YOU TWO TRY AND LAND THIS THING” were his final words before jumping over the edge after Hex.
“GREY!!!” Twilight screamed as she watched him jump
“LAND THIS!? HOW!? WHERE IS HEX!?” Apple Jack called out as the cart started to fall from its height and hit a cloud causing it all to shake and wobble. Twilight looked around the area for ideas on what to do as saw a storage rain cloud not far from them
“GIRLS! AIM FOR THAT LARGE RAIN CLOUD! WE’LL LAND THERE!”
The two girls aimed the falling cart for the cloud, smashing the odd cloud in their way. When they hit, Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack did their best to stop the cart. The storage cloud hadn’t given a smooth landing, causing the cart to rock and shake while crossing the cloud. Before finally stopping, the cart hit a large bump which caused Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack to be sent above the cart and freed of its harnesses. Rainbow Dash caught herself mid flight and went after the slowing down cart while Apple Jack just crash landed onto the cloud. The cart just rolled to a halt on its own as Rainbow Dash caught up with it, checking inside she saw everypony as okay and nothing wasn’t damaged from the landing.
“Some pony help me h’re” Apple Jack was stuck in the cloud trying to get a grip of her wings while all Rainbow Dash could do was laugh
“Dash, go and help AJ will you” Twilight said from the cart
“Where is Grey? and Hex?” Vinyl asked Twilight as they watched Rainbow Dash pull Apple Jack out of the cloud
“Hex fell, Grey jumped after him” Twilight responded looking at the cloud, knowing that she couldn’t walk on its soft fluffy surface.
“GREY DID WHAT!?” Oatmeal called out as he helped the others in the cart
“I can fly to see if I find them?” Rainbow Dash offered just as the cloud readjusted itself for some new weight that it had taken on.
“There will be no need for that” Grey said as he landed with Hex on his back “I think it’ll be a good place to set up camp” He said has he flapped his new wings and placed Hex on part of the cloud, away from the cart as the magic discharged from Hex’s body.
