Hmm, I'm not very active in most fandoms, so I fortunately don't get to see a lot of the more obnoxious fans. Well, except for sports fans. Soccer, to be more precise.
Every time there's a World Championship (or just a European one) everyone just assumes that I'm a fan, too. I've had completely random strangers trying to start a conversation with me about what team I'm rooting for or what was the best or worst part of any recent game, and when I tell them that I don't watch soccer they just stare at me as if I had just grown a third eye.
"But it's the World Championship!" they say. And "Surely, you must be watching at least the finales, right?"
    Sigh.

I'll never understand why it's so important for some people that everyone else is also a fan of the same thing. So odd...

    PewDiePie and Tobuscus fans, too.

And, TF2 fans, but only if you use the "H" word.

    WWE fans.
I watch it occasionally, and find it to be quite entertaining.

However, there are fans out there who believe that it's all real, and will become angry and even violent if you try to tell them otherwise.

I honestly don't think that Bronies are bad at all :dunno:, though perhaps I've just had different experiences then you guys.

To me, the worst fan-bases are close-minded music fans. Let me make one thing clear, there's nothin' wrong with liking any musician, even Justin Bieber (or, as I like to call him, the Bieber miester miester Bieber). However, try to at least be respectful as not everyone shares in your taste. This especially goes to fans of older music who automatically assume that all music these days is garbage and refuse to give any modern musician a shot. You know the type. :pff:

I live in a family of those. I used to be one myself, in my early teens, so I definitely know where you're coming from. This probably is the worst kind of annoying fan, because it's so common.

I'd say just about all fandoms are obnoxious in their own ways. Some are more vocal about it however. Guess it comes down to demographics really. Something like a Pewdiepie fan for example seem to be consisted mostly of young-teens with a pseudo cult-feeling toward him given how they act. Replace pewdiepie with an X that attracts that age group, and they'd probably act just about the same. Again, just demographics. Bronies can get tempted to try and state why mlp is good in a tongue that really only other mlp fans would understand AND relate to -- it sounds obvious to you but not to an outsider, though really you can replace mlp with X and get the same result. It's just that MLP is a bit of an "out there" example compared to something like, being a model car fanatic or something of less risk to provoking a raised eyebrow from who you're talking with. The latter is easier for someone to digest than pretty ponies. The high barrier is set with mlp and it leads to frustration and the arguments you see.

The level of obnoxiousness also can be derived from the level of opposition those fandoms receive. "If you're gonna yell, I'm gonna try and out-do you!" is unfortunately the majority of what people tend to do especially on the internet.

Hm, I suppose that it could be so. It's just that everything is spread from either word of mouth or social media.

In recent news, sasaengs(Insane K Pop fans) interrupted EXO's Baekhyun's brother's wedding. It even went to the point that someone tried to cover it up as a rumor. Other instances of their behavior includes camping in front of a group's dorm, using zoom lenses to locate G Dragon's house(He had to move after the ordeal. He was even attacked by them), carving EXO's logo onto their arms, creating a 'religion' where fans would worship a member of EXO(Kris), and also buy a taxi to follow their car. Tao of EXO has AS WELL stated that he was traumatized by their behaviors to the point that he became mentally unstable. And that's only the tip of the iceberg. SM Entertainment(The company that owns EXO, SHINee, SNSD, f(x), and Super Junior) has yet to provide their idols any security. YG and several others have provided security for their artists fortunately.

However, there are fans that are indeed sane. As I mentioned in a page, "They have no life."

I'm in quite a few fandoms and some have more dash-holes than others. For instance- most anime forums are full of the immature, of course I find most of the fans are between the ages of 12-15yrs old and talk in managled Japanese . I avoid anime discussions like the black death even though I do enjoy anime. Star Trek forums seems to be alright, as long as you don't bring up certain hot button issues, like feminism or religion.
The Doctor Who fandom has been the alright for me and I haven't had many issues. The worst was the House MD fans. Apparently, they all want to be House with witty quips, but they all lack the intelligence to make it sound like anything other than them being complete bastards.
I've really enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes fandom (the books and old tv show), they've been very thoughtful and intelligent. The brony fandom has been pretty good, although just like the Star Trek fandom, some topics are just off limits. Supernatural fans tend to be alot of fun though- I generally get along with every Supernatural fan I meet. I find age is a bit factor on whether you'll find arguments in a forum, also, the type of fans a fandom attracts can effect your experience.
Course these are just my experiences, maybe you've had better.

Make no mistake, this fandom has no shortage of bad apples. Those who openly disqualify cloppers as "not real bronies" are every bit as intolerant as the haters outside; some overreact to every decision M.A. Larson makes and wage flame wars against their fellow fans; some are pseudo-religious about ponies to the point of shoving them down other people's throats (pretty much the only legitimate complaint that haters throw at us); and if you can even believe such a thing, I've heard some bronies bashing furries as "freaks". Let that sink in for a minute.

Overall, I still think the majority of us know how to conduct ourselves maturely and respectfully. That said, the only other fandoms I seem to have my own problems with are those based around anime. It seems to be the most rabid about shipping (to the point of writing fics about murdering canon characters that ruined their OTP); yaoi and yuri ships that portray the LGBT community as a bunch of one-dimensional horndogs concerned with little else besides sex; the unforgivable butchering of the Japanese language on a near constant basis; getting outright livid with people who don't really care for anime; and frankly, a boatload of other things that would keep me here all day if I were to list them all.

And then there's the fact that a lot of anime fans outright hate bronies, totally forgetting the fact that anime nerds used to be in that exact same position before anime really became mainstream. One would think that nerds from ALL walks of nerddom would stick together, but...well, as demonstrated from the still-present Star Trek vs. Star Wars spat, nerds are still as divided as ever.
Can't we all just get along? :DFH:

NO- kill the Star Wars fans [IMG] :D
    BTW- Picard is best Captain

You're right about how the anime community treats LGBT community. Course so do television and movies, gays all have to be over the top and dramatic and effeminate, and lesbians all have to be eccentric and *****y. They've all become caricatures of what real gays and lesbians are really like. Course they did the same thing to black actors and performers early on too (and some would say they continue to do so). It's almost as if they're saying 'sure, you can be in television- but you have to be a stereotype and comic relief otherwise the normal people will be too uncomfortable by your presence'. It's total BS.

Some of the brony fandom is very immature.

You have people who fight over best pony. People who discriminate others for liking certain things about the show. People ostracizing cloppers because they're uncomfortable with sex. People getting WAY too into the show itself, and obsessing beyond obsessing.

Honestly, there are bronies that are no better, or even worse than the brony haters out there.

I have no problem with Pewdiepie fans. As long as they don't spread their messages across the videos I watch, they're fine.

However, WWE fans annoy the crap out of me.

Kind of makes you wonder how a show like Will & Grace got so popular. Not that it was outright offensive, but characters like Jack sure didn't help much in dispelling the blatant stereotypes...stereotypes that were, as you mentioned, played off for comic relief. Could've been worse, though - he could've been the main character instead of Will. >_<

Pewdiepie fans... the ones who see a new you tuber who is steadily gaining subscribers and then swarm their channel claiming that they're a copycat and nowhere as "Entertaining" as Pewds.
Any Role Playing Game... I'll pick out Mass Effect because I was a huge fan until the third, and admittedly I was annoyed about the ending and felt those 300+ Hours were for nothing but the fact fans took matters into their own hands and demanded a new ending. I'm sure there was the odd death threat and such but the sad thing is that the developers gave into pressure and released a extended ending that was held together by a bacon wrap.
1D Fans... because I just don't understand them :Boo:

I'm going to have to disagree with you there.
One of the reasons I found Will and Grace to be so funny was because Jack was exactly like a gay guy that my mother worked with.
There are plenty of gay men out there that behave as outrageously as Jack, and if you remember, the show made it clear that Jack represented only a small part of the gay community.
The main character, Will, was a successful lawyer that just happened to also be gay.

Will and Grace was a great show because it showed that gay people are just like everybody else, and it did so in primetime on a major network.

    Purist bronies.

Oh lordy. These people think just because they personally don't like things, that they're instantly bad. Even though bronies originated from 4chan.
