Hi all! This is a game I've been working on since the end of may (it's the end of october now, so it's 5 months that I've been working on it!!), which I hope I'll be able to release by the end of this year (check the post time if you're in 2014 or later .... wait .... you'd already have figured that out by now .......... right?)! =3 I've got a lot of info on it here: http://www.mylittlegamedev.com... . You can try the old version (I'd consider it more to be some kind of really slow prototype) here: https://c9.io/mijyn/luna-dream... If you want, I'd love to have feedback on it (even ideas, or just even say that you like/dislike it/the idea of it) =) Bye!! =D
Don't be surprised if nobody play this. The last time a new member posted a game that they made, things didn't end well.
LOL yeah, that wouldn't be surprising at all to me ... especially since most people wouldn't consider this to be a game either lol.
This^ I don't trust links to games considering they can do damage ... a lot of damage. It's cool to see that fangames are still being made though ... sadly a lot of them get or have gotten dropped. *sadface*
Right, well, this game is open-source, so, y'know, if you really don't trust it, just check out the source code (and if you really don't trust it even then, compile it yourself!). I made a point to make sure that it was rather legible =) Yeah, a lot of them are either dropped, or suck badly (pretty much just games like 1000s of others, except with a pony theme ... this one at least tries to be original)... pretty sad =/
Okay, so based off the one playthrough here's what I think. The good: - I love that Luna can fly. Adds some really good opportunities to build vertical levels. - I kind of like the idea that it's a platformer, but has no enemies and is more narrative based. Reminds me of games like Dear Esther and the Stanley Parable. I typically don't like maze games like this but I was having a pretty good time. - The trippy wavy effect. Definitely makes the whole thing feel more dream like and worked really well with the kind of surreal horror narrative you were going for. The Bad: - The camera needs to stray fixed on Luna. There were times where I dropped and had to wait for the camera to catch up with me. - I imagined an Alicorn like Luna will be fly a bit more smoothly. Flight right now is handled like Lunar Lander. I think just allowing the player to go into some kind of flight mode might make the vertical exploration less of a pain. - Luna is a slow mover. The reason I don't like maze games is because it takes so long to get somewhere and feels like it takes longer to turn around when you find a dead end or something that you missed.
Yeah, I don't get why so many games don't do this... I was actually planning to add some enemies later on (they can kill you, but you can't kill them... all you can do is run away), and some ghosts of your dead friends (the mane 6). But yeah, I do really want to keep it much more about the story than anything else (including running away from enemies). Yay! Finally someone understands what that is for!! XD Interesting ... I'll definitely keep that in mind, thanks a lot for the suggestion! (since I'm currently re-writing it, I'm definitely happy to cut my workload XD) What do you mean by smoother? Like a cruise mode for flying (one where you can touch nothing, and Luna will stay in the air)? Or do you mean like acceleration/deceleration (such as when you stop flying, she doesn't stop right away, but would take more like a quarter of a second to do so fully)? Thanks for the suggestion... that just gave me some new ideas for the game...... (but yeah, I will make her faster... I guess the reason why I didn't do so before is that I was always using super-speeds when testing my game XD)
No problem. I think cruise mode where she can just hover is more in line with her character. By the way, I'm an indie game designer and have studies a lot about games both functionally and artisitcally. If you ever need any more feedback feel free to message me.
