Out of curiosity i was wondering what everyponies favorite genre or genres of music is. My favorite genres of music are punk and ska.
I'm big into a lot of electronic music. Trance, rave, dubstep, techno, electronica, etc. Ska's nice, I have a good memory of playing a video game as a child that had a ska song in it's soundtrack. Really, the only genres I don't like are country and really dark metal. Also, whatever genre the Gorillaz are classified under, I'd like more of that!
IDM. I can listen to most electronic music, but anything by Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Luke Vibert, Venetian Snares, Nero's Day at Disneyland, those sort of artists, I just can't live without. I also like classical. I have a feeling I'm on my own with the IDM thing.
lol, like you read my mind. I was about to post such topic anyway, I listen to many genders of music, but I mostly enjoy intense bass electronic: mostly liquid and dubstep (Netsky, Camo and Krooked, High Contrast, Nero, Artificial Intelligence, etc) I also enjoy some rock, maybe some punk song if it's good, some hip hop (maybe even some old rap), and if mood is right classic music. I also like Gorilaz, although only Daemon days and Gorilaz albums.
Experimental Electronic (think Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, etc.) and Alt. Metal (think Tool, Karnivool, Gojira, etc. etc.) Yeah and odd pair but I love both of them pretty equally.
I like quite a wide variety of music but indie is usually my main thing I've also taken a liking to movie soundtracks lately too <.<
*looks up example of IDM* Huh, not bad, I'll do more research into that. Why haven't I heard of it before? *looks up Aphex Twin* hmmmm.....

I prefer country and classic music. Though some techno and rock music will do just find. I really only dislike rap and heavy metal. But some rap is ok.
Alot of you like the Gorilaz not really a fan myself. I just love the energy of 3rd wave ska bands. I used to be ashamed to let people know i listened to ska cause the music was different from all the generic rap and rock that's out nowadays, but i thought to myself whats the worst they can do hate it. Now i blast it over my work radio for all to hate on it.
I like a wide array of music! I like early Jazz (Examples: Count Baise, Duke Ellington, and Jellyroll Morton) Rock'n'Roll (Examples: David Bowie, Aerosmith, LED ZEPPELIN, AC/DC, Queen) Metal (Examples: In Flames, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, SOAD) Avant Garde (The Residents are all I need here!) Pink Floyd is a genre to itself! I have NO idea where Modest Mouse belongs Classical (Examples: Modest Mussorgsky, Gustav Holst, Bach) Some of that new stuff I got from my sister (Hot hot heat, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers)
I have a varied taste in music, so I'm willing to give anything a try. I like all the sub genres within metal, rock, techno, punk, etc. If I had to list the genres I frequently listen to a lot (most of which aren't pony supported yet D, then it would be avantgarde metal, horrorpunk, hardstyle techno, and industrial techno/industrial metal (industrial anything, really lol). Examples for these genres. Avantgarde metal: Stolen Babies, Diablo Swing Orchestra Horrorpunk: Nekromantix, The Misfits, Mad Sin Hardstyle: Showtek, Driller Killerz, Noisecontrollers, Headhunterz, Coone, DJ Psycho Industrial techno: Skinny Puppy, ohGr, Angelspit, Combichrist Industrial metal: KMFDM... that is all I need say xD

Basically, if it fits under my definition of music and is decent, I don't hate it. If it's any good, I probably like it. My definition of music? If you have lyrics, SING them. If you have lyrics, make them good. Or at least bearable. Have some semblance of harmony. This is where some REALLY hardcore techno falls off. The rest me gusta.
Basically, like most genres, all the mainstream rap stuff is horrendous, a friend showed me this rapper and I was quite impressed, especially at how meaningful the lyrics are: I'm also a big fan of post-rock and guitar heavy alt-jazz, the two seem to blend fairly often:
I like just about everything as far as music goes...not really big into rap or trance. Country is good. It might actually be easier to list all the genres on my Mp3 player: Country (Josh Turner, Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley) Rock Dance (Lady Gaga) Pop Techno J Pop (just about anything from anime I love) Classical (Motzart and stuff) Opera (yeah thats right...opera!) Classic Rock (Elvis) Swing (Frank Sinatra) Jazz Parody music (Team Four Star, Weird Al) Punk (Green Day, Linkin Park, Three days Grace) PONY MUSIC! (woot ponies!)
Classical, chiptune, and electronic (trance, dubstep) are my favorite kinds of music. Also music that you can think to (Ace Attorney, as an example)
I know what you mean. When school was in, anytime I was having difficulty on homework, I'd go on Youtube and pull up "Logic and Trick." It always seemed to help me for some reason.
