Not sure why you draw the conclusion, unless you're simply unable to keep up the chain of reasoning you were going down and have to resort to ad hominem.
Brogenitus - Either you are a troll, or you are one of the most ignorant, idiotic people that I have ever encountered online. Either way, this site is not for people like you. Please find a new forum to spew your garbage.
I'm sorry to say that I think he isn't. He's not even the first person that shares this general point of view (I say point of view in the loosest of terms). If somewhat disconcerting, but this could be a genuine opinion. Of course, it could be that this is merely being mimicked for its novelty. - - Auto Merge - - That's genuinely offensive; I know that you don't agree with the point of view, but you shouldn't openly commit Ad Homonym. Let's keep this a discussion, not make it into a ****storm. Although I'm just not going to even delve into the matter, I don't think my sanity is worth it.
True, but the fact that he just joined and has done nothing but use this thread makes me wonder if he is just ranting. Like a (not the original meaning) bad troll can do in-order to perpetuate a feeling of power in a life where he has none. *shrugs* Either way I feel he is just trying to get a rise out of others.
If he is a troll, attacking him will only spur on the spree. If not, you're just being inconsiderate. Technically speaking, every opinion is valid, very few are factually accurate.
Good. I was afraid I was being too subtle. I've been around long enough to know that certain kinds of people make the site worse. They cause problems for no reason, and end up driving away other members with their antics. They are a cancer to the site, and like any cancer, need to be cut out as soon as possible. - - Auto Merge - - It is. Feel free to start being civil at any time.
You sound a lot like the average manifesto; I wouldn't say that's a good thing. Many of them ended up killing tons of people simply as a case of disinterested views. While I understand the difference in scale, I'm finding what you're saying notably more offensive that anything that was said by Brogenitus. His point of view - in my opinion - is incorrect and unsavory. Yours is just offensive.
So insulting people is okay if you are subtle about it? Like you do? Also, I enjoy that you find being blunt insulting. It's the only thing I have done is voice my opinion. Yet you seem to not enjoy different opinions.
I'm not even sure how you managed to get that from what I said. I just suggested that the best way to deal with things like this is the civil way. Like the big shiny report button. Also, now the thread faces a different issue. Spoiler: The issue Let's get back on topic.
I think that feminism was great... when it was still necessary. Yes, there was a time when women were not treated equally. That time has passed. Move on, and quit whining. Also, there have always been, and there always will be, certain things that men are better at than women. The reverse is also true. Please stop with the whole "A woman can do anything a man can do!" bit.
Second point is a bit more agreeable biologically speaking, but the first is just .... What about the incredible underestimation of domestic violence, rape, assaults etc that happen to women and girls all over the US? What about locations where basic human rights are denied to women? Religious and cultural oppression toward women such as in Islamic countries or in India where radical Hindus still practice bride burning? What about the still used Dowry system? What about the mass rapes in the DRC, or in countries like Saudi Arabia where women can't even do simple things like freaking drive or even be seen in public alone? How about in China where women are often forced to abort their children at the discretion of the father or because of their continued practice of their one-child policy? How about the hundreds of thousands of individuals trafficked for sex slaves each year with 70%+ being women and girls? And some of the hotspot locations for trafficking happen to be in California? Or did you just suddenly forget? It's fine to not like radicals in feminism but to say the time has passed where women are not treated equally or that the movement is no longer necessary is laughable at the very least...What cave do you live in?? Oh wait, Murrica right, who cares about anyone else. Geez man...have some damn perspective before you make such a heinous comment.
Although I indented to stay out of this thread, I do have one interesting point to insert here. There's a common misconception that trafficking is facilitated entirely by male persons. It's not. In fact, that predisposition unfortunately is one of the reasons why attempts to stop human trafficking have yielded very limited success. Just something I wanted to put. Proceed as preordained.
Absolutely. And, if further reason was even needed (fun fact: it isn't), what about the fact that Feminism is important to understand how males operate in society? Feminism is absolutely necessary. It is customary to demean women in entertainment and even news and politics, but we're so used to it that most of it flies under the radar. Women get paid less and are more frequently victimized by physical violence, and even when men are victims the cause of their pain is inextricably linked to how both of our genders perceive each other. We will always need Feminism.
I realize that it's horrible to say, and I realize that I'm going to get a lot of flak for this, but I was only talking about the United States, where feminism has been warped from the women's rights movement to the "women-first" movement. As for the cases in the United States, while I realize that rape is far too common, I don't believe it happens nearly as often as some people claim. While it's impossible to know for sure how many reports are false (estimates vary wildly, from as low as 1% to as high as 90%), I personally knew two men that were falsely accused of raping a girl at a party, (one was gay, the other wasn't even there) and a girl that claimed rape when she got caught having sex at school and was facing suspension.
Both of your points do hold some basic truth in them. There are some Feminists who are radical, and there are some reported rapes that aren't true. However, I've known of many Feminists that weren't crazy man-haters (I'm sexually male and am also a Feminist) and I've known of multiple rapes that are legitimate and have never once witnessed or experienced a boy-who-cried-wolf rape. I understand both of those things exist, but that argument goes both ways.
But again, you're viewing from the front that is most loudest, the radicals. It's like anyone who's not a brony first sees and thinks of us; crazy individuals who go about and preach the crap out of, and you are wrong to not like MLP. Vastly different obviously but the parallels are there. The movement in itself is far from unnecessary or intended as a "women first movement". Also whoever is trying to say that there is potentiality in 90% of reported rape cases to be false is a dumbass. It'd be more realistic to say 90% of rape cases go unreported because the woman is too afraid to get help. Some independent studies show 60-90% go unreported to police in the US. So to use the notion of girls who cry rape as a reason to oppose the feminist movement is again uninformed. Rape and sexual violence is the most underreported violent crime. And what's even worse out of the cases that are reported AND true, 4-8% actually lead to a conviction. I actually follow mass studies and statistics instead of using localized opinions as portrayal to an overall problem. Anyway, I think we're done here. http://www.uky.edu/CRVAW/files/TopTen/07_Rape_Prosecution.pdf https://www.rainn.org/statistics
I think Feminists used to have the right idea of equality, but now they seem to have forgotten the purpose of their kind...like, it went from equality, to men are immoral. They got a think, without men, none of them would be here in the first place. Men are not immoral, they are, like it or not, the start of the human race anyways. Like I said, without men, women are nothing. Without women, men are nothing. That's all there is to it. :3
