May as well. You've started us every time, why break the cycle? Hibiscus thought. Keeping his mouth shut, he pushed his bags up against the leg of his table. Turning to Lilly, he said "Thanks, I'm defiantly not as young as I used to be. Getting a bit ahead of myself with some of this. My legs just can't catch up with me." He huffed and waited for the unicorns' argument to whatever bigoted issues they had. Knowing how these meetings usually turned up, it would have something to do with the earth ponies and food.
Snow cleared her throat once more, activating the special silver tongue of hers that spilt words of silt and honey. "Ponies of the three tribes, friends, for many a year we have fought with each other over the littlest of reasons, like the 'earth ponies didn't deliver as much food as last time' or that 'the unicorns raised the sun to late/early' or the 'pegasi didn't let the right weather happen'. These things need to be put behind us if we are to move forward, move forward to a bigger, brighter, more peaceful existence. I am proposing to this summit that the ways of old are too antiquated to be of any use to us anymore. We need to throw off the shackles of hatred, bigotry, and tyranny in order to co-exist. I propose we bring the three tribes together under one government, chose for by the ponies as a whole, not as individual races. A government in which we all are equal, with understanding of each other's lot in life, none trotting down on others, one in which the pegasi no longer threaten the others with their military, or the unicorns with refusing to raise and lower the sun and moon, or the earth ponies threatening to withhold food. It would introduce a world in which we identified ourselves not as a particular race, but as a pony. As a citizen of the unified government of the ponies, as a member in a place were hatred against those of one's species doesn't occur, and invoke a pride in that fact." Snow paused, licking her lips, looking at the response, for the most part, it was a stunned silence among the crowd. Snow wetted her lips and took a symbolic step back, showing she was done, "I rest my case." she finished.
Spider Lily leaned over to Hibiscus and commented quietly; "A government built by unicorns, no doubt." She layed out some parchment that she had with her and took a quill in her mouth, focusing down on the paper as she wrote upon it.
Storm stood up and spoke. "Snow, on behalf of all pegasi, okay maybe not all of them. I share your ideals in a similar way. Personally the tribes should come together as one large empire stretching from the uninhabitable mild west to the griffin kingdom. My idea of how we run this is through a high council with 2 of each race in multiple parties with different ideals between each party and every 5-6 years the citizens of the empire vote for which party takes on the role of high council. The only trouble is that the rulers of our separate tribes do not share these thoughts especially hurricane and it shall take weeks to try and persuade him and his semi-dectatorship grasp on the pegasi".
Snow shook her head, "I said that the Council would not rely upon race as a factor for membership. They are to be elected from a pool of candidates headed by a president, who is also elected. We cannot have race to be allowed to change our government."
