How do we deal with the setting? Do we build it up ourselves and simply keep an eye out for other player's worldbuilding, do we put material up for vote, or do we base it on a specific pre-set standard, like a fic? Just as an example, let's say my character got a loan...would those be uncommon due to how interest impinges on the virtue of Generosity? Or are the Elements/Virtues not apply yet (the Elements themselves may not exist, but simple fighting between the races does not mean they don't know friendship)? If they do, is it in ideals, or in a more religious sense? There are so many variables in all this- what standards should we set for crafting it?
(This remains me of some fanfic i had started and forgot in my locker for two months, about the Equestria's history. It was awesome, but so badly written... )
(I'll start us off ) Hibiscus wandered around his usual crops, occasionally picking one or two as he passed. The carrots seemed to be the most frequently picked. 'Perhaps I planted them too early...' he thought. As he wandered through his patch, two young pegasi flew behind him quietly. When they were sure of their target, they both aimed and pelted rocks at his head. "Hey, Earth Pony!" one of them yelled. They both landed nearby, crushing at least five plants. "Hey!" Hibiscus yelled at them. "Those are crops, don't break them!" One of the pegasi looked down at his hooves. "Oh, you mean these?" he said, and began prancing around them. Red with fury, Hibiscus walked gingerly towards them to buck their heads off. They flew up before he could do anything. "If you're here for a tithe, you'll have to leave." Hibiscus shouted at them. "I've already given out my weekly 14 tithes, so you'll be getting nothing more!" One of them flew dangerously close to him. "Is that really? So you're not going to give us any food? My stomach is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hungry!" he said with mock drama. The other one, who had previously flown off, returned with a large gray cloud. Realizing his intentions, Hibiscus yelped and charged back into his cottage. From his window, he watched as the two, still laughing hysterically, picked up the basket he dropped and flew away with the food he had spent the last hour collecting. Hibiscus sighed and turned towards the inside of his cottage. "I need some cider..." he said with a mumble.
Snow and 4 other unicorns stood on the lunar platform, the area that they used to lower the sun and raise the moon. "You ready everypony?" Snow asked the other 4, they nodded, "Alright good, let's get this over with." and the five's horns lit up and they put their horns to the symbol on the ground. The rune lit up with a bright light before fading, and when they looked, the moon was on the horizon, "Another successful moonrise, good job everypony! Now, let's go eat." Snow said, clapping her hooves together, an the group went to the feast table where the 'fruits of their labor' was set. And by their, they meant the Earth Ponies. Snow floated an apple towards here and as she took a bite, couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the earth ponies who had no magic or wings to help them supply not only themselves, but the unicorns and pegisi at the same time. It truly amazed her how they pulled it off, Maybe I should go for a stroll tomorrow, she thought as she continued to munch on her apple.
Ice flew through the great cloud city as he just got back from the meeting of the three tribes. "Unicorns are so obnoxious and the earth ponies seem to be giving us less and less food even though we give them all they need in terms of weather... its hard work controlling the weather..." he muttered as he flew. With a great sigh he thinks about what to do now since tomorrow he has to work on snowflakes and the other rep goes in his place to the daily meeting of the three tribes. "I need to relax a bit" he says as he stretches and cracks a few joints as his stomach starts to growl. He stops in the middle of town and starts to wonder around the main street.
Ashes went to Snow. "I'm sorry, but i appear to have bad news. The shipment of food as been attacked on it's way. We won't receive the supplies we would've needed for the next week, and i'm afraid some unicorns could die from lack of food. But, on the other hand, one of our magic scientifics has maybe found the way to create synthetic, yet nutritionous food."
"No, I don't want to risk the potential risks of 'synthetic food'. I will go to the Earth ponies tomorrow to try and convince them to send another shipment, how did the meeting go with the other races in my absence?" Snow asked Ashes.
Cal is Flying around the Cloud city when he notices the pegasi representative Icy Wind ,Cal was the Second representative for the pegasi but he could tell Icy was stressed from how he walked down so he decided to say hello and see how he's Feeling as Cal swoops down in Icy's path he says "Hello how are you today Icy you seemed a bit stressed"
Hibiscus wandered out pf his cottage almost dreamily. He was carrying a half empty bottle of cider and his face was blood red. One of the passerby farmers saw him and chuckled. "Drunk again, you old coot?" He yelled. Hibiscus spent a few seconds attempting to focus on him, but gave up nonetheless. "Oh...bite me, Baras!" Hibiscus yelled at the farmer as he walked away. Hibiscus plotted to chuck a rock at him, but decided against it when he noticed there were no nearby stones. He sighed and lay down on the porch, alone with his cider.
Thresh continued to inspect the iron claw on the table, her face unchanging despite the racket from across the room. It was a little misshapen, so she tossed it in the slag pile. And what kind of quality does a seed drill have if one of the churning claws is off? That simply wouldn't do if she was to stay out of the fields- backbreaking work. She hated the plows, and the mud, and the planting, the sore feeling in the neck after bending down for hours to plant those seeds. She hated the tired feeling, the early hours, the oppressive heat of the sun. It was Tartarus, it was. And, on the topic of planting, it seemed father was pitching a fit in the doorway. She'd been trying to ignore that. The family had a tradition of hard work and no complaints, an ancestry in farming, so her father was always calling her a disgrace. In fact, he did it every Thursday afternoon, taking a break from the fields to stand in the shop's doorway, ranting on honor and determination and the call of nature. He was one of many who called her a freak- bending nature was always frowned upon, even in the smallest ways. The same nature that brought aches and pains and death, the same nature that carried the pox and the plague, the wolf and the lion, all the evils of the world in its fowl bowels. Well, all evil except for those freaks. The real freaks. Wings and horns had no place in the world, nor did magic. Nature may be foul, but twisting the world in such a way is equally wretched. It was to be done through steel and fire and hot coal that was it! She shoved any acknowledgment of her hypocrisy down the same mental abyss as her father, as usual. Returning back into focus, she realized that the shouting had stopped. The tribe got in moods like that, but they passed- her seed drills, threshers, and weavers increased productivity, and for all the raving, they felt greed in their hearts, and that is a powerful motivator. They'd welcome her to meals or enter friendly chatting, or even buy her drinks if no one was looking, even. She pondered for a moment if that was out of a hope for a discount or legitimate friendliness, and reached the conclusion that she didn't honestly care. They all had a system, a crazy, insane, illogical system that made absolute perfect sense, and it worked well enough for her. Then, suddenly, she realized the time: the daily meet was approaching. EDIT: I think I'm doing it wrong
Ice turns to see second representative of the pegasi Cal "Oh hey Cal yeah i am stressed. I think the earth ponies are lessening how much food we get and the unicorns seem to get more uptight with each passing day. your going in my place tomorrow to the meeting of the tribes tomorrow don't forget... they need me to help make the snowflakes cause winter is coming up soon and we need to start working on the flakes asap so we are ready for winter when it comes time." Ice explained as he and Cal walk down the main part of town. Ice looks for a good place to eat.
"Ah well we do need the snowflakes it is closing in on winter so yeah i'll go in your place the earth ponies are probably losing food because i saw two pegasi messing with a earth pony and destroying their crops which they are probably punishing the rest of the group for others behavior and the unicorns are always up tight don't let it get to you"
"Wow really? Please tell me they were little fillies who are just to ignorant and don't know what they are really doing... it makes it easier to "Apologize" if it is the little fillies... and i think the unicorns are letting their ability to raise the sun and the moon to their heads. Lets find a place to eat I am getting hungry." Ice said as they keep walking.
"unfortunetly i can say yes it was to fully grown pegasi and from what i saw they also stole some food after the earth pony left due to anger i could tell they were mocking the earth pony from how they laughed so apologises will probably have to wait and lets eat heh"
"by the way how is that new factory coming along whats it supposed to make? rainbows?" Ice asked as they went into a restaurant.
"oh The Rainbow Factory well it's still in production we still need to get the "materials" and theres some bugs with the mechanisms of the machines also if you want to relax with some music i'll be at the Club to night entertaining some other pegasi till midnight"
