She opened her eyes and seemed surprised that he was looking at her, her clear grey eyes meeting his. “You wouldn’t be upset if I got hurt?” *** “We joined forces, yes.”
"I would," he told her, "but I wasn't sure about the other way around." *** "I could kick you out, you know," she said, coming back and cleaning up.
She smiled, considered him thoughtfully before her face fell. "Yeah. My powers make it difficult to tell." * * * "Do it," he said pointedly.
He raised an eyebrow at her. "I didn't know if you cared about me, is all. I care about you, but not just because of your powers." *** She paused. "..I'd feel bad."
The music faded out and she paused, pulling away from him slightly. "I'm sure, Mr. Audra," she said quietly, her hands dropping from his chest. * * * He squinted before heading for the door.
She gave him a small smile before going back to the stove. "Do you want some food?" * * * He glanced back and grinned a wolfy smile. "What's that?"
She rolled her eyes. "You've already seen me without my battle armour, Mr. Audra," she said smoothly. "Staying for some wine and pad thai won't make it worse." * * * He paused, stepping forward and tracing her jaw with his finger. "Big mistake."
He laughed slightly. "Alright, then." *** Her eyes widened slightly as she watched him, her brows furrowing slightly. "What?"
She walked over to the fridge, pulling out a bottle of red wine and setting it on the marble counter. "It's tofu. I hope that's alright." * * * He squinted before tapping her nose. "Boop."
He nodded, coming over to the counter. "Yeah, that's fine." *** She blinked, looking confused. She reached out and did the same to him. "Boop."
She gestured with her head. "Wine glasses are in the top shelf." * * * He gasped. "Excuse you, Madam."
He looked up, moving to look and grabbing two. *** She grinned, her eyes warm before she turned back to her living room. "I should probably get my bed set up. I haven't done much because I've been.. preoccupied."
He set the glasses down on the table. "What's your birds name?" *** She looked over at him. "If you'd like to."
She glanced over at the bird who was climbing up his cage. "Atticus," she said primly, pouring him some wine. "I love To Kill a Mockingbird." * * * "You're also welcome to just sleep at my place."
He looked back. "That's a good name." *** She looked over at him in surprise. "Your place? Is that okay?"
"He's a good bird," she responded before making a kissy noise at the bird. The bird chirped before flying across the room to land on her shoulder. * * * "Of course."
