He huffed. "I am not being flirty and you invited me in." *** She laughed, closing the fridge and following him.
"I did," she surrendered, her hand brushing his back. "And I'm glad you're here." * * * He turned into Gideon's bedroom and there was a loud whomp as he leaped onto the bed.
He relaxed into her touch. "I'm glad to be here." *** She grinned, going into the bedroom and joining him on the bed, scratching behind his ears. "Let me open the bacon for you."
She looked down at him before dropping her hand. "I'm sorry. I don't want to get you sick." * * * He harumphed, trying to pry open the plastic with his teeth.
He raised an eyebrow. "Your hand isn't contagious." *** She leaned against him, moving to open the package of bacon.
"Sure it is," she said, sitting at the table. * * * He growled almost playfully, his tail hitting her in the face.
He laughed slightly, leaning back. "Uh huh." *** She chuckled, pushing his tail away and giving him a piece of bacon.
She frowned, looking down at the soup. "You really didn't have to bring me anything..." * * * The strip of bacon was gone immediately and he groaned, standing up and jumping down from the bed.
She paused, looking up at him. "I can't kiss you, right?" * * * He hurried to the door, pausing for a moment. She would almost be able to see the gears turning in his head.
He looked back at her. "Not right now." *** Her eyes widened slightly as she stepped in front of the door. "No.."
She pursed her lips, looking disappointed. "Hm... that's fine, then." * * * He whined at her, headbutting the door gently.
"But we can when you're not sick." *** She reached and stroked his ears, kissing his forehead. "Not today, okay?"
"Nuh uh, Levy," she said flatly. "It's now or never." * * * He whined again, lying down by the door. Gideon's phone wrang.
"Isn't it? I have a fever, Mr. Audra," she said primly. "I'm delirious." * * * It was Gwen. "Hey, Veronica?" Gideon had told her earlier that Veronica was going to take over her duties for tonight. "Did everything go okay?"
"You'll be fine without a kiss." *** She brightened, looking over at Gideon. "Yeah! It's going great."
"Of course I will," she said with a sigh. "But I'm still sad." * * * Gideon was gone and the door was open. She would hear Gwen sigh with relief. "Oh, good. Okay. Good. He's behaving well?"
"We'll have our moment." *** Her eyes widened as she went to the door, phone still in hand as she kept her voice calm. "Yep! The only hard part is listening to how sad he sounds in his cage. I was microwaving something and it's beeping now. I'll call you later, okay?"
She laughed slightly. "We've had our moment." * * * "Okay! I'll be waiting!" The phone beeped. She saw Gideon turning a corner down a hall.
