He reached over, brushing her hair back gently. * * * It didn't take Veronica long to arrive. She was relatively close when she called.
She leaned into his touch, looking very upset. When she heard someone come into her apartment, she called out. "Veronica, we're in here!"
"He got shot, I think?" Beck said, her general calm clearly disrupted. "I don't know. He just showed up like this."
"He'll be okay," she reassured, raising her hand slightly to see how the process was going. "I think he should stay here tonight, though."
"Take all the time you need," Beck said worriedly, brushing Levy's hair off his forehead. "Can I help at all?"
After a few minutes he was healed, but still out of it. Veronica had the two bullets in her hand and set them on a napkin.
Beck was sitting next to him again, the cup of water on the nightstand as she brushed his hair back gently. "Thank you, Veronica," she said quietly, looking terrified. "He'll be alright?"
His eyes were closed but he leaned into her touch. Veronica started for the door, pulling out her phone. "Let me know if you need anything else."
She looked down at him, kissing his forehead. "You're such a dummy." * * * Gideon picked up on the first ring. "Hello?"
He grinned. "You're an angel." *** She relaxed at the sound of his voice. "Hey, Gid. I had to deal with something.. Beck called because Levy got hurt and I had to fix it. I'm going to call a taxi back."
She shushed him, standing up and pulling the sheets up. "You should get some sleep. I can go sleep on the couch." * * * "What?" he asked, sounding sleepy. "No, I'll come to pick you up."
