He gave her a small, nervous nod and waited for the next person to arrive. *** She tapped her chin. "I dunno."
She noticed, leaning back against the wall again. "Why do you do this if you don't like it?" * * * "We could paint a train about to squash someone."
He looked over at her with a small frown, looking uncertain. "I like helping people, I just... I'm not good at this type of thing." *** She squinted at him. "That's so rude."
"You are helping people, technically..." * * * "Says the girl who doesn't know how to walk on the subway."
"How do you figure?" *** She rolled her eyes, taking cans out of the bag. "I will do this one on my own, but you can't look at it until it's done."
"These people we're disposing of... they're not good people, Adonis," she said quietly, looking down at Newt. "They're a threat to the public." * * * "What?" he protested. "Why not?"
"Well, I know that part," he said quietly, "but.. I mean, you could do this on your own easily. Or at least with someone better." *** She grinned, shaking a can. "Cause I said so."
"I am quite content to be here with you," she replied. "It's always nice to be covered." * * * He groaned but sat, turning his back to her.
The next individual was a henchman, a larger man with glittery green eyes. *** He sat against the wall, closing his eyes.
Adonis stepped forward. He cleared his throat, waiting for the man to look at him. When he did, he would turn him to stone. *** After a bit, she stepped back looking up at the art. She coughed before looking down at him. "All done."
The man squinted, turning to look. The stone spread over the surface of his skin and he froze. *** He opened one eye to look.
Adonis took it, starting to drag the statue over. *** It was colorful and bright, depicting the famous painting The Kiss with a unique use of the vibrant colors of spray paint. It was quite pretty to look at and Mari looked at with a pleased smile.
She helped him, pulling it next to Newt’s still body. “Is he dead, now?” *** He completely brightened, coming over to her. “It’s lovely!”
"Uh.. Sort of. I can reverse the effects if we need to." *** She smiled at him. "Do you think so? I've always loved this painting."
"No, it's alright," she reassured him. "Just a morbid curiosity." * * * "It has a detailed history," he said, looking up at it. "Scandal."
She frowned, tilting her head slightly. "You can leave if this makes you uncomfortable." * ** He looked at it for a moment before gesturing with his head. "Come on."
