He stepped inside, his brows furrowed. *** Her smile widened and she nodded, heading towards the movies.
Her apartment was fairly minimalist and sleek, with a fire in the fireplace. She poured some hot water into a mug, and offered the tea for him. "What do you mean mentor?" * * * "I bought the tickets already. I hope that's okay."
He took it gratefully. "I want to be a better hero.." *** She squeezed his hand slightly. "That's fine, as long as I can buy the snacks."
Her expression softened and she tilted her head. "But... Adonis, you're already a great hero." * * * "What?" he replied indignantly. "No."
He shook his head. "Don't kid me. I want to be better." *** "Yes. You paid for the movie and I'm the one who invited you. What kind of candy do you like?"
She frowned, leaning against the counter. "I mean... what do you want me to teach you? Fighting stuff? General heroics?" * * * "I'll never tell," he replied smugly.
She squinted at him, resting her head on her hand worriedly. "What brought this on, Adonis?" * * * "What? No."
"Why do you even want to be a hero in the first place? You can leave this life, if you'd like." * * * He squinted at her. "You're going to make fun of me."
"I told you," he said. "I want to help people." *** She raised an eyebrow. "Do you really think I would start this date my making fun of you?"
She sighed before nodding. "Okay, okay. When are you available to start?" * * * "You definitely would," he replied, looking down at her curiously.
She nodded slowly, straightening up. "Alright. Well... I suppose we can start tomorrow..." She paused and then squinted at him. "How did you know where I lived?" * * * He fell silent, squinting at her before sighing. "Raisinettes."
She laughed slightly, running her fingers through her hair. "Ah, yes, my brother's new sweetheart. You could have just called me." * * * "Yes," he replied defensively. "They're good."
She laughed again, rolling her eyes slightly. "Right. Here." She walked over to a side table by the couch and picked up her cellphone, returning to him and offering it. * * * "Do you even know what Raisinettes are?"
"This will be good, I think," she said with a small shrug. * * * "What about you? What's your favorite?"
