He paused, squinting at her before huffing. "Yeah, fine." *** She relaxed as he took her hand. "I'm great. How about you?"
She grinned deviously at him before gesturing with her head. "Come on. We'll come back here in a few minutes." * * * "A little tired, but doing well," he said. "Come on. We have a train to catch."
He looked a bit nervous, but nodded in agreement. *** She squeezed his hand, stepping onto.the train and taking a seat with an open spot beside her for him.
She led him out of her apartment and up the stairs to the roof. Snow had stopped falling, but it was still cold and the snowdrifts still blanketed the floor. "Alright. Ready?" * * * He sat next to her, leaning his weight on her playfully.
He hesitated for a moment, but nodded. "Yeah. Ready." *** She laughed slightly, leaning against him as well.
She raised an eyebrow before sprinting for the edge of the roof, leaping off and landing on the adjacent building about six feet away. * * * "Any ideas where we're going?"
"Yes, you can," she said calmly. "Adonis, I will not let you fall. Take deep breaths. Give yourself a running start." * * * "Hm. That's a good guess."
He looked panicked, but backed up and gave a running start, jumping across. *** "So what are we doing?"
She was standing close to the edge, and as he jumped across, she extended her hands, backing up as he landed on the roof and softening his impact on the roof. She was laughing in delight, her hands pressed against his. "You did it!" * * * "Ice skating," he said after a moment. "I just wanted to keep an air of mystery for a while longer."
His breaths were rapid and he looked up at her. "I did it?" *** She laughed. "I'm psychic. A psychic who is really bad at ice skating."
Her eyes were sparkling and she squeezed his hands playfully. "You! Adonis Spirou! You did this!" * * * He rolled his eyes. "I'm sure that's not true."
"Do you feel that adrenaline rush, though?" she asked brightly. "You did it! I'm really, really proud of you." * * * "How can you be bad? You live in the city."
He pulled back, lying down. "Yeah, but it was still terrifying," he said. "But I did it." *** "I don't really do it."
She looked down at him, squinting. "Well, don't get too comfortable. We still have to go back to our roof." * * * "We have to fix that."
He groaned, standing up. "Fine, fine." *** She rested her head on his shoulder playfully. "And we will."
She laughed again, obviously very pleased with herself before running across the roof and leaping across, landing in a roll. * * * He looked down at her before resting his head on hers, glancing out the window. "You have a lot of faith."
He sighed, waiting a moment before running and jumping after her. *** "That's just what I want you to think."
She watched him appreciatively before speaking. "Want to know something that might make you mad?" * * * "You've convinced me."
