He looked over and brightened. “Mari! Hi!” *** She considered him for a moment before leaning forward and giving him a light peck on the cheek.
She grinned, coming over and kissing his cheek. "Good morning. Did you sleep well?" *** He blushed, looking down. "What does that mean?"
“I did,” he replied. “You should have stayed asleep; I was going to bring you breakfast in bed...” *** She paused, watching him with a small smile on her face. “It means I missed you...”
She laughed, resting her head on his shoulder. "That's sweet. Maybe I can help now." *** He grinned, standing straight and offering her the flowers. "I missed you too."
“No!” he said, dismayed. “That would mean I’m utterly incompetent.” *** She took them, looking over appreciatively. “How did you know that these are my favorite colors...?
"What? That's not true! It would be you help your girlfriend feel more useful while making breakfast." *** He laughed slightly. "Same way I found your address the first time."
“I don’t want you to feel useful. I want you to feel appreciated.” *** She groaned slightly. “”You asked my brother how to woo me?”
She couldn't help but grin. "I do feel appreciated. And incredibly lucky." *** He waved his hands. "Just favorite colors!"
He laughed slightly, shaking his head. “Come on, sit down. How did you sleep?” *** She gave him a small smile before looking over her shoulder. “Do you want to come in? I just got home...”
“I don’t blame you,” he said, flipping a pancake on the griddle. *** She opened the door wider, letting him in.
“To sleep?” he asked, glancing over at her. *** She went over to the kitchen counter, slipping off her blazer and setting it neatly on the marble surface. “You look nice,” she commented. “I like the cologne; it was a nice touch.”
He rolled his eyes, bringing a plate over to her with pancakes and eggs. "That was so bad." * * * She rested her head on her hand, watching him keenly. "So... now what?"
"Cute," he amended, "but too corny for my taste." * * * She looked surprised. "Did I not say? Oh. Yes. Yes, I would like to go on a date with you."
She laughed. "That's not good. I wasn't intending to be corny." *** "Is there anywhere you'd like to go in particular?"
"That's sweet. I would never doubt your sincerity," he said, returning to the stove. * * * She gave him a devilish grin. "This is your party, Adonis. You make the decisions."
