"That is true." *** He looked over at her. "Of course. I have something set up in the bed of the truck."
"Get it?" he asked, clearly pleased with the joke. * * * She smiled, her face looking excited. "Really?"
She laughed lowly. "Yeah, I got it." *** He gave her a playful look. "What, you thought we'd use these seats like some sort of commoner?"
He wiggled his eyebrows before turning to her, leaning back against the counter. "I'm funny." * * * She beamed at him before getting out of the car, closing the door behind her.
She lightly threw the dish rag at his face. "Hush." *** He got out as well. There was a tarp over the back that he removed, opening the door to climb up. Under the tarp there was basically a full bed, adorned with multiple blankets and pillows.
He gasped, catching the rag. "Heartbreaking." * * * She climbed up as well, sitting down and tucking her feet under her. "You're so clever," she said, looking up at him.
He grinned, leaning over and kissing her temple. "Truly." * * * "I do," she said, looking over at him. "You're a genius."
He hesitated, reaching up to brush her hair back gently. “...do you need a ride home?” *** She looked down for a moment before lying down next to him. It was awkward, as might be expected. She leaned up against a pillow he had placed against the back of the truck, looking up at the dark screen thoughtfully.
She looked up at him. "Yeah.. I didn't really think of that." *** He glanced over at her hesitantly before grabbing the bag. "I wasn't sure what kind of snacks you liked so I grabbed a bunch."
"You're welcome to stay," he said, his tone gentle before he spoke quickly. "But, I mean... you don't have to. You probably want to go home..." * * * She looked over at him, tilting her head. "You don't know what snacks I like? Adonis."
She pursed her lips. "I wouldn't want to intrude or anything." *** "Well I can't call your brother for everything."
He looked over at her, taking her hands. "I want you here." * * * She laughed, settling down against the pillow. "I appreciate it."
She tilted her head at him thoughtfully. "I want to be here." *** "So what do you like?" he asked curiously, looking over at her.
He laughed, kissing her cheek. "What a perfect circumstance." * * * She returned the gaze leaning over to look into the bag, her shoulder brushing his. "What do you have?"
"I should get some clothes eventually, though." *** He offered it to her. Inside were an array of candy, chips, and some fruits in ziploc bags.
"You don't like my Nirvana shirt?" he asked, tilting his head. * * * She looked in before taking a small thing of Fritos, leaning back. She didn't return to her spot, now closer to him. "This is such a good idea."
She laughed. "No, I love it. I'd be wearing my own clothes for your sake." *** He hesitated, slowly sliding an arm over her shoulder. "I'm glad you like it."
"I think you look great," he said, hopping up to sit on the counter. * * * She looked up at him, grinning cheekily. "You're getting quite good at these Bravery Challenges."
