Steve smiled, relieved to see that none of the unpleasant men were coming along.
"Thank you, ma'am. I'll be sure to look it over.
The flight's going to take nearly a full twenty-four, so I went ahead and installed some benches.
Fedex here wasn't exactly built for luxury, but it shouldn't be too uncomfortable."

He opened the large door on the side of the plane, and stepped inside.
He had been quite literal about having installed benches.
Two park benches, with the words PROPERTY OF NIPTON PORT PARKS DEPARTMENT clearly painted on the backrests, had been hastily bolted to either side of the cabin.
"Go ahead and make yourselves comfortable.
We'll take off as soon as the others get here."

 

"Aren't planes mentioned to have seat belts." One of the hellwalkers said as they all sat down on the same side.

 

(Guess I'd better redo this, as we're apparently at an airport now.)

Steve shook his head in annoyance as the dock where he had parked the plane vanished, replaced by an airport.
Nobody else seemed to notice it happening.
The fact that his aircraft was, very specifically, a floatplane, and had, again very specifically, been landed in the water near a dock, didn't seem to matter, as everybody seemed to be heading for an airport that existed in spite of the fact that his was the only working aircraft in the city, and had only arrived there that morning.
With the transition complete, Steve shook his head again and immediately made himself forget what he had just seen.

(Seriously, guys. Pay attention to other peoples' posts. If something is stated specifically to be one way, don't write something that has it being different.

Steve laughed, and helped Adaria load the box into the plane.
"This is nothing. Just a single engine cargo plane.
Back before the disaster, there were planes that were two hundred and fifty feet long, and could carry five hundred people across whole oceans in a matter of hours.
I've seen a couple of them in my travels, wrecked and rusted skeletons overgrown with plant life, and I've often wondered what things were like before.
Can you even imagine five hundred people climbing into a giant airplane like it was no big deal?
And there were hundreds of planes like that! Maybe thousands! Who knows, maybe some of them survived and are just waiting to be..."
He stopped himself, embarrassed.
"Sorry. I've always been fascinated by what life was like before the impact."

 

As Blade began eating his meal he had ordered, one of his teammates busted through the doors, bloodied and battered, "IRIKO!!!"
He rushed to the mans side, holding him up as he sat him down, "What the hell did you do this time!?"
"Cryotech, his team found me, I put up a fight, killed quite a few. Said they were heading to the airport, weapons being stored, bomb being placed, fifty men under cryotech heading there now!" The man said swiftly, to anyone else it would have sounded like gibberish, but Blade knew what he said.
A puddle of blood began forming on the seat and poured down slowly to the floor.
"You did well, now rest... old friend..." Blade said with a bit of sadness in his voice, he began to tremble in sadness but pulled himself together.
The man leaned back as he took his last breath, holding his only weapon he always uses, his spiked war hammer.
Wandering Blade stood up, and looked directly at the waitress who was shocked, "Where is the airport."
She said nothing, at this point Blade was pissed, "I ASKED WHERE IS IT!?"
In fear the witness fell back, she pointed to a map. Blade swiftly walked up to it as he viewed the map, and forum the airport. He knew Cryotech was there.
He rushed out of the door, and took off in an inhumanly fast sprint. By now he should be nearing the airport.

 

Isaac, having dozed off earlier, awoke with a start to find that the bar they were in was gone, and that it had been replaced with an airport restaurant. He would have made a remark about it to someone there, but could find no one.

Suddenly, he remembered. He jumped out of his seat after grabbing his mask and hastily putting it on. "Even in New America, I'm STILL late for my flight." He ran as fast as he could, thankfully ending up at the plane before it had taken off. "Okay, okay don't worry. I'm here." He stopped to catch his breath as he looked the plane over. "Steve, where'd you manage to get a Fed Ex plane?"

 

JJ was tired. She had just flown across an ocean from Japan. She was just going to take a short breather before setting out again to New New York. She perched herself on top of a building beside an airport that was filling up with passengers. JJ just sat there listening to the city noise and keeping a vigil eye out for any problems with take off. It would just make her upset if something couldn't fly right.

 

Steve shrugged.
"I got lucky. I found her completely by chance, and managed to get her flying."

It was, quite literally, the dumbest of luck that had led Steve to the aircraft.
Six months earlier, he had been riding through the forest when he had come across an oddly shaped hill. On a whim, he had decided to ride up the hill to get a better look at the area.
As he reached the top, he and his motorcycle were sent crashing twenty feet below, landing in an old hanger below.
Gasping for breath in the dead air inside, he had barely managed to escape with his life through a dirt and ash covered window.

The next day, after breaking open more windows to let fresh air in, Steve went back into the hanger to retrieve his motorcycle.
Inside, he discovered dozens of mummified bodies, as well as a remarkably well-preserved cargo plane.
From the looks of it, when Yellowstone had erupted and the ash had started falling, these poor souls had attempted to take shelter in the hanger.
Steve could only assume that none of them had realized that the fallen ash would form an airtight seal, transforming their shelter into their tomb.
He couldn't help but wonder what their final thoughts had been, as the air slowly ran out. Had they prayed to their gods? Had they waited for somebody to come and save them? Had they understood that the world that they had knew was coming to an end?

It had taken Steve a week to bury the bodies and move the aircraft to the boathouse that he had been staying in.
It had taken him an additional five and a half months of searching abandoned towns and city-state trading posts to find the equipment to modify the plane and get it flying.


With everybody in, Steve shut the door and strapped himself into the pilot's seat.
The seat itself was covered in a metal mesh with dozens of wires attached.
It was what allowed him to use his mutant ability to power the powerful electric motor that had replaced the original gas engine.
It also meant that with no need to refuel, the plane could stay aloft almost indefinitely.
Even if he got up from the seat, the batteries that he had installed with the engine could keep the plane up for at least an hour before he would have to recharge them.

Steve started the motor and turned to Adaria.
"Miss Euralain, would you like to learn to fly a plane? I've seen your reflexes. I'd bet that you'd be a natural."

Men dressed in blue and white armor surrounded the airport, they found a plane that had been started. They began surrounding the plane itself, aiming rocket launchers and assault rifles at it. A skinny yet rather large man walked to the nose of the plane, he was at least 25 feet from it. He shot the left wing with a special rifle, covering the wing in complete ice, "Tonight, you shall be the first of my victims, to witness the power of Cryotech."
He began charging up one ball of ice and light in his right hand.

The Wandering Blade rushed on top of the roof, seeing through the cracks of the building what was going on. He finally found the man he was hunting, Cryotech. He didn't seem all that terrifying, yet this guy was said to be ten times stronger than his opposite brother. He dropped from the roof and readied his katana for the killing blow.

 

Steve watched as the men attacked his beloved plane, and sighed.
Some people were just too damned stupid to live.
Climbing out of his seat, he shoved open the plane door and pulled his revolver, shooting the nearest attacker through the neck.
As he ran to pick up the dead man's rocket launcher, he narrowly avoided being hit by gunfire.
Whirling to face his attacker, he threw his tomahawk, burying it in the man's skull.

A single bullet bit into his shoulder as he reached for the rocket launcher, and the man responsible was quickly vaporized as Steve fired the rocket into his chest.
Another two bullets struck Steve in the leg as he rushed for the next assailant.
Grabbing his foe in a stranglehold an using him as a human shield, he managed to dispatch two more of the attackers with his pistol.
As he did, yet another bullet struck his arm.

Furious, Steve sent a powerful electrical jolt into his human shield, killing the man.
A rocket struck close by, and Steve was sent flying by the blast, his gun knocked from his hand.
Dazed and bleeding, he struggled to his feet, only to find five assault rifles pointed at him.

 

Iriko would land, but too late. Cryotech rammed his fist with the ice power in his hand into the man's stomach, sending him into a wall.
"Kill them, call in the rest of the men for the destruction of this city." Cryotech yelled.
He looked at the man with revolver and used some form of telekinesis to oft him up off the ground, basically freezing him in place and would send him slowly towards his way. Cryotech looked at the man, "How pathetic-" He was immediately stopped as he released as a long katana was forced through his thick armor.
Iriko pulled it out, and charged at the rest of the men, easily killing them with swift attacks and blows.

 

Steve, still slightly dazed from the rocket blast, got slowly to his feet.
He did a quick mental inventory of his injuries.
He'd been shot in his right shoulder. The bullet was still inside, scraping against his clavicle with every movement.
He had taken two more in his left leg. A minor flesh wound to his calf muscle, and a through and through to his thigh that had narrowly missed his femoral artery.
He had also taken another shot to his right arm. The bullet had passed cleanly between radius and ulna, miraculously missing any bones or arteries.
The rocket that had exploded nearby had sent shrapnel into his face and chest, and blood was pouring freely from the wounds.
He'd been injured, but he'd taken worse in the past from the bandits, cannibals, and slavehunters that roamed the wilderness.
He'd be fine once he got to his first aid supplies.

"I'll be fine once I get myself bandaged up. Any idea who these guys were?"
Recovering his weapons, he limped to the plane and pulled out a duffel bag full of medical supplies.
After taking a few potent herbal painkillers, he pulled out a pair of forceps and dug the bullet out of his shoulder.

 

Cryotech stood up, holding a hand over his wound, "YOU WILL ALL DIE!"
Icy wings were created on his back as he swiftly flew out of there.
"That... would be Cryotech, someone I am hunting. He is wanted for destroying over three major cities and committing genocide on not one, but seven races on this Earth."
Iriko pulled his katana to the side in an offensive position as a large armored being dropped from the sky. His armor was made on entirely ice, "Prepare to die."
The man attacked the three, Iriko had attacked first, but was blasted through a wall by an icy gust of wind. The man then turned and used the same telekinesis to lift the same guy from earlier up, and the man began to slowly close his hand, this would send large jolts of pain and suffering before the victim would die.
Iriko charged once more, this time gaining a hit that would break the katana, he was blasted away again.

 

Pandora stepped out the plane along with the other female hellwalkers. "Hmmm, seems theres enough shade. May not be enough for a long lasting and overly powerful magic but it will do." Pandora then drained some dark energy from the shade. "Taste some of our power, murderer." She fired an orb of blackness towards Cryotech before launching. "We hellwalkers are said to be born from darkness so we may control it. Just be glad it isnt night time otherwise you face our true power."

 

The man laughed as he looked at the women as stood up, "A weak demon race is what you are. I have slain many if your kind, weak and strong." He made two large axes out of ice, and made his armor more compact. He would start in a run but then would begin to sprint. The area behind him would turn to ice, Iriko jumped from above and latched on to the mans back, trying to rip it off. Cryotech grabbed the mann by the leg and threw him across the room, Iriko grabbed his half katana and charged again, so did Cryotech.

 

Now that Fedex was out of danger, Steve decided to ignore the fight.
Whatever the issue was between Cryotech and the stranger, he had nothing to gain by getting involved.
After tending to his wounds, he climbed onto the ice-covered wing of the plane and electrified the plane's metal skin.
As the metal below the ice warmed, the ice began breaking off in large chunks.
In less than a minute, the wing was completely free of ice, and the plane was once again ready to fly.

As Steve jumped down from the wing, he was nearly struck by several bullets.
It appeared that there were still a few of Cryotech's lackeys hanging around.
Steve fired at them, but they had taken cover behind a concrete barricade. It would difficult, if not impossible, to land a clean hit on any of them.
With an annoyed grunt, Steve jumped into the plane and tore open his weapon crate. Inside, along with an assortment of guns that he had collected during his travels, was a box of hand grenades.
They were exactly what he needed.

Leaping back out of the plane, grenade in hand, he pulled the pin and lobbed the weapon over the barricade.
He heard what he assumed was swearing in some strange language a split-second before the grenade exploded, sending bloody pieces of the three men flying into the air.

 

Cryotech came down with both axes but Iriko roles to the side only to get kicked by the large man. He got back up just in time to dodge another frost axe. Cryotech charged up a larger ball of ice and shot towards Iriko, but missed, it was heading straight for the Hellwalkers now. Iriko grabbed katana and while the man wasn't looking, Iriko stabbed through the helmet.
Cryotech fell to his knee's laughing as his body and armor began to take another form, a larger form, an ice dragon.
Using telepathy Cryoteh would speak to all in their minds, "YOU ARE ALL FOOLS, THIS WORLD WILL COME TO AN END, AND YOU WILL ALL BE DEAD, YOUR BLOODLINES DIMINISHED, I, I AM CRYOTECH!!!"
And with that, the dragon flew out of the hangar, leaving his soldiers to kill off the men.

 

"Good for you, jackass."
Steve sighed, and reloaded his revolver.

Another wave of goons showed up as Cryotech flew away, but they were no more competent than the ones that came before them.
Between Steve, Adaria, Pandora, and the strange newcomer, the battle was over in a matter of minutes, with all of the attackers either dead or unconscious.

Fifteen minutes after Cryotech left, Steve was gathering weapons, body armor, and various tools and supplies from the bodies of the fallen.
The gear was valuable, and it would be a shame to leave it behind.
Besides, the dead had no need of such things.

 

JJ watched in horror and fascination as the dragon creature booked it out of the hanger. Curiosity over came her and she decided to check up on the plane, the operator, and passengers.

JJ dropped down to the hanger and then on foot, entered.
