"Well I could promise no bullies." Angel knew that wasn't enough but it wasn't like she could send guards with him everywhere he went. Angel didn't even know she was still in charge of the Royal Guards. Angel sighed at the thought of loosing her job. 'Oh well maybe I can be a normal pony now.' she thought. She rested her head against Ghost again and took a deep breath.
Ghost moved a bit to accompany her head, and closed his eyes. His head slumped, his breathing grew ragged.
Angel looked over the valley, identifying the shops that were once full of lively ponies. "What about those statues? I never got to see if my spell worked." Angel looked in the direction where she thought the statues were. When she didn't find them her ears perked up and she wondered of she really did the spell. She had never done a spell that hard without any practice. "And what about your mom!? We just kinda left her in the hospital wing." Angel remembered all of these questions. "What about Frozen? Where am I getting these questions all of a sudden?" she said that last part quietly.
"M-my mother... was killed in a bombing raid six months ago..." Ghost said weakly, leaning against Angel for support. "I-I must've been hallucinating, same for you in the hospital. It's what she loved to do... help people." Ghost put a hoof over Angel's, insinuating that both she and Rose had that quality in great abundance. "Frozen's with my strike team... I told her to stay put and try to help them. Don't worry, unless the dead come to life, everything will be fine," he smiled, straining from the effort. Following her gaze, Ghost assured her that the petrified ponies were free, and that her spell worked, but it greatly hurt her strength.
"And the same with your dad?" Angel gave a puzzled look. She could swear she felt that one was real. Then again she was in horrible pain. "Well as long a Frozen is safe I guess." She lifted her head to look Ghost in the eye. "Are you ok with everything that's going on?" Angel showed concern and loyalty, making sure her only real friend wasnt tramatized by everything that's happen.
He looked at her slowly... "Who are you?" Ghost asked. His pupils were tiny dots in his eyes. Worse, he didn't recognize the one who cared for him and comforted him when he needed it most. Ghost drew his knife, glaring at her. "Who are you?" He growled menacingly.
Angel hopped up and stepped away. "Ghost.. It's me!" Angel was shocked and her heart started to pump rapidly at the sight of the knife. "Angel? I-Im ur friend! Ghost please." Angel kept on the knife make sure it didn't come anywhere near her. She backed up against the tree and tried to untangle her wing in the sling.
"Ah-ah-ah, no one's going anywhere!" Ghost grabbed her good wing, and shattered the bones. "No flying... No magic..." He growled holding the knife against her neck. A cruel, wicked smile grew on on his face. Ghost insanely started singing a twisted version of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. There was no escape, Angel had to talk him out of this. She had to save her friend. "Twinkle, twinkle, little Angel, Oh I wonder how you taste? Oh look-at-the time, for yours is up, Now it's time to spill your guts! Twinkle twinkle, little Angel, I'm gonna stab you 'til you die!!!"
Angel gasped at the pain but had to think quickly.. "Ghost listen to me, you have to remember me!" Angel clenched her teeth. "Please Ghost, remember the tree house, the forest anything!" She was growing desperate. Angel kicked of Ghost and quickly galloped back into the castle. She ran to her room and locked the door behind her. She figured Ghost would be up soon and she had to think of something quick. She paced in her room and thought hard. She could use a memory spell but she was scared to use any magic. She would have to do that at the last possible chance she would get.
"Ooh, we've got a feisty one here don't we?" Ghost asked himself as he followed Angel. "Yes, yes we do have a feisty one... Mmm... I bet she tastes delicious!" Said another Ghost, talking to himself. He licked the blood off the blade. When he got to the door, it was locked. "Ooh, goodie a challenge!" Ghost said, kicking a fair-sized hole in the door, and crawled through. He spotted Angel and he started singing his twisted song again. Angel was being backed into a corner, a psychopath approaching her slowly. His head tilted to one side, eyes dilated, and a twisted grin on his face appeared as he pulled his mask off, tossing it behind him.
Angel's eyes were huge with fear. Her only friend was about to kill her and if she didn't do anything she was certainly going to die. "Ghost please.. It's me Angel! Please just remember!" Angel had no idea how to do this. She was now crouched in a small ball in the corner waiting for her life to end. Her horn started to glow but it sparked out. She started to cry and praying for something good to happen.
Ghost picked up Angel and tossed her on her bed. He stabbed her side, and then her leg. Then he put the knife to her throat, but stopped. His eyes were normal and very wide. "A-Angel...?"
"Help.. Me" she coughed. Her side and leg bleeding soaking her sheets on her bed. Her eyes burned with tears and her side felt like it was on fire. She couldn't breathe and she was having a horrible time trying to move away. Her eyes closed shut trying to push aside the the pain in her wings as she layed on them. "Ghost.. Why?" she asked her eyes glossy with tears.
"No... No... No!" Ghost ran to retrieve his mask, and grabbed it. Sootting the knife in his hoof, he angrily buried it deep into his leg, he didn't show any pain. Ghost darted back to Angel, and put the mask on her. "Don't take it off..." Ghost's eyes were blurring from his copious amounts of tears. He pulled out a needle and some thread, and began stitching her wounds together. "I'm so sorry... please... don't leave me... I'm sorry... I'm sorry..." Ghost sobbed while working. "Please... I..." Angel didn't look like she was going to make it. Lightning flashed outside, followed immediately by a deafening boom. "No, Angel......... What have I done?" Ghost had viciously attacked the one he held close to his heart, the one he cared most about. He had to tell her, before he ended his own life. "A-Angel...? Y-you're... You're my s-special s-somepony..." Ghost put a revolver to his head and said "I'm so sorry, Angel."
"NOO!" Angel used her front hooves to get up but kept weight off her back leg. "DON'T YOU DARE" she screamed, tears soaking her cheeks. "Please Ghost dont leave me please." Angel kicked the revolver out of his hoof, throwing it across the room and out the broken window. She stumbled and hung on to him with her life. Her tears soaking his coat now. "Please.. please." she spoke more quietly through sobs.
"I... I..." Ghost was speechless, he wrapped her in his coat, and held her tightly. "I'm sorry, Angel... I was weak..." Ghost didn't let her go. "I-I love you... I love you so much..." Ghost pulled the horn he got when he killed Celestia out and held it between them.
Angel didnt want to let go ever, she held on tight and promised herself she would never let go. "I love you too Ghost" Angel was relieved he was ok and still with her. She looked at the horn and gave a puzzled look, she cleared the tears away now that they finally stopped. "What is it?" she asked.
A light shined from it after the words "I love you" were spoken, with true feeling. "A trick I learned from Chrysalis..." Ghost was fading fast, and he gripped Angel tighter. "I... don't... know... if... I'm... gonna... make... it..." Ghost kissed Angel on the cheek, he felt cold.
"No please you have to stay with me!" she demanded. Angel watched Ghost's eyes making sure they didn't roll back. Angel pulled him into her arms again ans held him tight. She couldn't loose him, and if she did she would be the same anymore. "Promise you'll stay with me!" the tears came and just kept coming. Angel, the strong royal guard leader was now crumbling inside hoping to never loose the one she loved.
"I.... p-promise...." Ghost whispered. The horn flashed a brilliant white, and all of Angel's wounds were healed. The magical discharge wasn't meant for Changelings, though. The blast flung Ghost against the wall, creating a sickening *crack* on impact. "S-sorry... I-I wasn't... strong... enough..." Ghost began coughing violently, spitting up a glowing orb, then he was still. It was his soul, and the light was fading.
