After some thought on the matter, I have to agree that I hope the CMC don't get their cutie marks quite yet - but hopefully by the hoped for third season! Since I don't much care for Gilda, I hope no more of her, but more Trixie? Mmmmaybe . . . I guess she was better than Gilda. More Zecora, of course. We already know Derpy will appear, and I hope some of the others will make a more substantial appearance, such as Lyra and Bon Bon (probably not as fandom sees them), Carrot Top, Vinyl Scratch, etc., etc. And perhaps one episode each that will highlight one of the Mane Six. Or probably just five episodes, as Twilight has already had lots of episodes about her - heck, every episode is about her, really. Well, that's my wish list, or part of it. Really, this show needs to come out weekly, or even daily. Shall we start a letter writing campaign?
What do I hope/expect/speculate? Well... Princess Luna to have a more proactive role with Celestia. One episode dedicated to Princess Luna (I'm not sure, but was there confirmation of this in the works?) I'm interested to see if the CMC's not having their cutie marks will continue to be a running gag, or if some or all earn theirs at some point, and despite the result, what new ways will they approach this endeavor. As for Trixie, I wouldn't mind seeing her again, if only she came back after "learning her lesson" as Twilight put it. As for Gilda, similar idea. If only she'd return after realizing her attitude was wrong. Otherwise, no. I'm interested to see how Discord will play a role. Despite Pinkie Pie having so many, I'm interested to see what other songs she'll have. I'd be very disappointed if she didn't sing that much because that is part of her character. I'm also interested in any another randomness she'll provide. I wonder if we'll see any of the characters' breakdowns again (For example, will there be a situation once again where Pinkie Pie will lose control? Is that an actual part of her character, or just a one-time thing? I pose the same question of other characters.) Will we ever hear Derpy's official voice? (I know there's one video out there on YouTube claiming that Derpy is saying "Muffin", but at the same time, Colgate and another character are also saying it, so I'm not sure we've ever really heard her speak). Will the name "Derpy" (Not Ditzy, I'm not even sure if Ditzy = Derpy, the former was mentioned, but whoever "Ditzy" is wasn't present at the time) as well as other fan-names be mentioned in the show? Even more general, will any of the fandom's influence be acknowledged? I, personally, wouldn't mind if only a tiny bit was mentioned here or there, like a character name, or maybe some other reference that only we'll understand, but, under no circumstances should that stray away from what the show already is and under no circumstances should we be the focus. Season 1 was fine as it was, so any references should remain subtle and esoteric, if they choose to do that at all. I'm not worried about it. I have faith in that they know what they're doing. I think I read somewhere that there are some brony references in Season 2, but no details as to what were provided. I'm interested to see how all the current characters will be developed further, and what new ones may be introduced. Will the whole Spike and Rarity gag continue? Will there be some sort of acknowledgement from Rarity there? (Whether positive, negative or indifferent) Also looking forward to new collaborative songs. As far as solo songs go, it'd be nice to have other characters have their own. No, this does not contradict what I said about Pinkie Pie's songs. I still am interested to see what Pinkie Pie will sing about. That's essentially part of her character, but what I mean is; How about Rainbow Dash having a song about herself instead of just being involved in a collaboration? If I recall correctly, so far the only ponies that have had their own songs are Pinkie Pie (Plenty of them!), Fluttershy ("So Many Wonders"), and I guess you can count Rarity's "Art of The Dress" even though there were collaborative parts. Rainbow, Applejack and Twilight I don't think have had one for themselves yet. Unless my memory escapes me. Will there be any new creatures introduced? That's "all" I can think of at the moment.
Not sure if it really counts, but Twilight had a few solos during Winter Wrap Up, since it was about her wondering how she can help.
Funny you should mention that. I was considering making a note of that in my post, but the reason I didn't is because unlike "Art of The Dress," which really seems to focus on Rarity despite the collaboration, "Winter Wrap Up," at least, in my opinion, isn't Twilight-focused enough. To me, the song is equally about Twilight being able to find her place and how to help, but also a large part of it is about how Ponyville wraps up winter. So while I agree with you, I was thinking something more Twilight-centric is in order.
Well said, DRD. Sounds good to me! Highlighted the parts that caused me to throw yet more money at the screen. And yeah, if the two-part premiere has a song it'll probably be in the second part. Agreed on CMC. I would honestly like to see Trixie again more than Gilda, so I understand. More Zecora would be awesome, although the poor writers... XD And as long as Lyra and Bon-Bon are seen standing/sitting/whatever in the background together at least once or twice, I'll be happy. Vinyl Scratch--YES. All of my money. I'd like to see episodes based on each of the mane six ponies, but I'm not quite sure how they would work it in. The show is about friendship and stuff, which was the basis of all the Season One episodes. Daily? I don't know, I'd feel bad for the poor crew... Luna having her own episode is confirmed, at the very least. So there's that! ^_^ Although I think they won't be getting their cutie marks anytime soon, that WOULD be an interesting episode/storyline.... Hm, maybe they could return and then learn said lessons during the episode itself? Either that or flashbacks to see why their attitudes had changed. As we all are, it seems. XD Not to mention her songs are so dang catchy! And, of course, I look forward to more Pinkie Pie randomness! I wouldn't mind seeing some more Cutie Mark Failure Insanity Syndrome! I'm not sure about the voice, but I do think the possibility of fan names being referenced is pretty high. Unless, of course, they can't for some legal reason. [size=-2]Highlighted part is my opinion on the possibility of brony fanservice.[/size] Y'know, I was surprised by some of the character development in the show. Our heroines are all clearly different at the end of the season than they were at the start, although to different degrees. I'd say Applejack changed the least, Fluttershy the most, but that's VERY debatable! (Not to say I don't love AJ of course, she just didn't seem to go through the same amount of character development as the others.) I'm hoping their characters will continue to develop in the future. Hmmm, this is something I've been thinking about a lot, myself. In my opinion, Rarity seems completely oblivious to Spike's crush, and I'm not sure how she would react if she found out. As for whether or not the gag will continue, I can't help but wonder if at some point Spike's going to move on. ^ This. All of it. New creatures? I sure hope so! ;D Perhaps, but it was still more of a group song with Twilight singing at the beginning and end... Well now we can actually see it. 80% more badass now that we can clearly see her SRS BSNS face. Therefore, it's much easier to analyze. It seems that it really IS a bright light, and the little ponies are simply shielding their eyes. Of course, Celestia is way too awesome, therefore she doesn't even blink. Why would she need to? She's the Princess of Equestria! Mere bright lights are of no concern! [size=-2]If you can't tell, I'm really excited for Badassestia.[/size]
Yeah, I wonder why Celestia looks so serious, perhaps it's related to a conflict involving Discord? Hmmm... but look at Pinkie Pie's expression. Notice how her's is the only one that's different from the others? She still looks cheerful despite what's going on. Typical Pinkie, haha. This is one of the reasons why I like her character so much.
The lack of Twilight and Rainbow Dash in that shot might be significant. Y'know, I think one way to make Celestia mad would be kidnapping her most faithful student... Ah yes, I could see that even in the blurry version of the screencap! So adorable~ ...Reminds me of Part Two of the pilot, when they were charging at the manticore and yet Pinkie was bouncing (with I think a cheerful look on her face?) instead of galloping. EDIT: Kind of random, but if neither Gilda or Spitfire return, I wouldn't mind if another character got the same VA. I love that voice. Just sayin'. Something I've thought of because of fanart, is an episode based on the pets--Angel, Winona, Opalescence, Gummy, and Owlohoweveryouspellit. Speaking of which, an episode where Rainbow Dash, feeling left out, gets a pet of her own would be awesome. Maybe a turtle? ;D
What am I hoping for in the second season? Oh man, so much I don't know where to start! Some things that immediatley come to mind are: - Applejack needs a few episodes focusing on her. Applebuck Season, to me, just wasn't enough to flesh out her character. If she had a few more episodesdedicated to her, I would probabaly like a her a bit more. Right now, she's my least favorite of the mane 6. - Rainbow Dash needs her own song SO BAD! 'Nuff said! Might as well post this here again. This is a little scenario I came up with when I heard when the new season is going to start. It's a prediction/speculation of how a battle between the Elements of Harmony and "Discord" (and a mystery pony, you'll have to read it to find out who!) could play out and how the episode could end. Tell me what you think of it! -- The mane 6, as in the first season premiere, get their elements. They use the same friendship beam that defeated Nightmare Moon. But it dosen't work this time. Discord is even more powerful than they thought. Then they hear a familiar, boastful voice say: "Perhaps I could be of some assistance!" It's revealed to be Trixie! She offers her help to defeat Discord. Of course, the mane 6 are not so eager to take her up on her offer. They're still a little angry at her for the last time she was there. Trixie begs for their forgiveness and hopes that they can forgive her for being so boastful, and she evn promises to change her attitude if they'll just let her help them. They forgive her and try to defeat Discord with one extra pony. Discord is then either defeated or chased off in some fashion, the same way Nightmare Moon was defeated. As per "The Elements Of Harmony - Part 2" Celestia shows up. She asks what happened to Discord. The mane 6 (and Trixie) say "He's gone/he ran off!" (whatever they decide to do with him). Celestia then notices Trixie with a shocked expression. The others turn to look at her too. They all see that she has an element necklace as well! The scene changes to the library in the royal palace at Canterlot, where Celestia is rifling through some books. She finds the book she needs and reads something (out loud of course to the mane 6 (and Trixie)) about their actually being a mysterious 7th element: "The Element Of Illusion!" Obviously, Trixie embodies this element. This is why she wanted to help them in the fight against Discord. She knew of the 7th element, and knew she embodied it. After Trixie explains how she cme to this discovery, Celestia asks Trixie if she would like to move to Ponyvilleand study the magic of friendship with Twilight. At first, she's not so sure about all this, she worries what Twilights other friends will think of this. But, without hesitation, the other five each tell her that it would be an honour for her to live in Ponyville witht them! Maybe they say something along the lines of "You helped us defeat an enemy stronger than Nightamre Moon herself! Anypony who can do that is a friend of mine!" Celestia then asks Twilight if she learned anything about friendship. Maybe something like: "Sometimes enemies from the past can become great allies, or even friends, in the future." Then, the mane 7 walk off, and Trixie starts life anew in Ponyville *End Credits* You can also use your imagination to work Luna in there as well.
