Power glanced cautiously at the others around him. After realizing what happened with the statuee, it took all of Jhera's will to prevent him from getting involved in the fight. If the same effect was on Power as well, who knew what might happened if he began bludgeoning the crap out of it! The effects could be horrifying!
The spider continued its slow retreat as it began backing up the wall again. With Rifter and Arc coming at it in full force, its eyes shone again, and the world grew hazy for both of its oncoming attackers. Rifter sped towards the spider with his claws out, ready to tear the grey and white creature to shreads, when a sudden force of darkness came crashing into his side. He hit the wall hard again, but this time at least, it was not his beak which was the point of impact. After a momentary shake-off, he found himself and Arc's feet. Arc Gust was locked in on his target and made a flying hoof attack at the spider! He slammed into his target, and smashed against the wall, hearing one of the creature's disgusting bones break! As the haziness fades, however, it is Rifter who was on the ground before him... not the strange spider! Rexar saw the Griffon flying straight towards him! With talons out-stretched, what was to be done? However, before he could really react, a flying Arc Gust, came and power-kicked Rifter into the wall not 5' from the spider's location! Tex didn't see much as he closed in. He could hear it skittering up along the wall, and swinging his hoof wildly, he somehow managed to hit! His left fore-hoof met the spider's disgusting face HARD and a resounding crunch is heard as the creature loses its grip and falls to the ground before him. Norm saw... Arc charge at the spider while Rifter was flying at Rexar, then do some form of pony-karate flying kick on Rifter, smashing him into the wall just before Rifter clawed into Rexar's face. Then he saw Tex, who was approaching with much more caution, suddenly slap the spider right off the wall! The spider lands belly up as its seven remaining legs curl inwards, and a trickle of its dark ichor runs along the carpet. The only real thing left, as the nightmarish scene around the group suddenly fades away. The room is normal size again... just a plain train cart. The only evidence of the combat is the strange grey and white giant spider, and the dead ticket taker. Spike slowly came out of hiding, and looked to the others with one burning question. "What in Equestria IS that thing?!" The train finally comes out of the tunnel, as if it were the spider's defeat which allowed the trip to go on.
Tex looked around the room. He nodded, and satisfied that the battle was over, he went to check on the others to make sure they were okay.
Rifter was confused. He was attacking a spider, then hit a wall... Twice... Then landed in front of Arc?! Rifter, be a LOT more carefull. Dark Shine told Rifter this in his head, and Rifter just thought it as a concoius. He shook his head, feathers rustling.
Rexar glared around the room, then took an extra stab at the spider, turning his spear for good measure. "It's dead, that's what." Quill tried desperately to assure "himself" that his allies were under the effects of some sort of hallucination, but Rexar knew where he stood. He glowered at Rifter and Texas before making his way toward the the back of the car and flopping down on his haunces, spear at the ready.
It squealed as the spear struck it again, and a pool of blood formed around it as its muscled contracted and curled its form inwards with a dying groan. Well, at least I can congratulate you on a job well done! I was worried there for a second... well, not really. Hope you all enjoyed your taste of play before Gallopmere. Though, I promise, you can rest... for now! Spike stared in horror at the crumpled body of the ticket taker, his eyes wide as the calm gives him a few moments of silence to see the scene. Before he broke out in tears, he threw his hands over his eyes and looked down. "N... no. It's... it's not real!" He turns around in defiance and lowers his hands. "I'm going back to my seat," he boldly stated as he began to march back into the cart the group started on. He was visibly shaken... shaking, his voice filled with greif... the scene was certaintly not for this baby dragon. Perhaps Daress can see that this is what sets him apart from the other dragons... In the other cart, he sighed heavily and began to rummage through a brown backpack for something.
Tex saw Rexar eyeing him with distrust. Well, more like glaring at him murderously with distrust. Apparently he didn't realize that the spider had been creating illusions and messing with their minds. Well, perhaps he would figure it out. Meanwhile, he made his way toward one who was more likely to accept help from him; Rifter. He stopped when he was about a foot away from the Griffon and grunted. "You all right?"
Rifter scratched the back of his neck with his claw. "A few bumps and bruises. That was annoying though. I was flying towards it, then I saw nothing, it went black. Next thing I know, a Wall!" He muttered under his breath. Yeah... I would not exactly call it a few bumps and bruises... Rifter looked to Tex. "Yourself?"
Norm tore one of the curtains and placed it on top of the dead pony while saying "May you rest in peace.". Then his attention went to his teammates, seeing if anyone was damaged in the fight "Does anyone got hurt on the fight? If so, come to me so that I may heal you."
Norm saw Rexar coming to him and said "Of course my friend, stand still." and Norm hold his paw towards Rexar and a white light exited his paw and entered Rexar's body, fixing any dmage he might had. Finishing the spell, he said "Any better?"
Tex frowned. "Yeah. Illusions aren't fun. But I'm fine." He glanced at Rexar, then back at Rifter. "You sure you're good? You don't look it."
Rifter shrugged, well sort of. A few feathers fell out, but he shrugged. "Hehe, its just a few bruises. Stupid spider. Good thing he got his comuppins before I got at him! Ha ha ha!" He decided to slash at the already dead spider, just as some personal revenge. He then looked over to the other cart. "I'm gonna go talk to that little dragon. Make sure he is alright. He is youngest after all."
The spell cast by Norm fills Rexar with a warm and slightly euphoric sensation. His fur, previously smushed by the impact, has straightened out, and his sore shoulder is feeling much better. Spike pulls a parchment and an inkwell with a quill. He opens up the inkwell and begins to write a letter on the parchment, mumbling softly to himself as he does.
Rifter opened the door a little bit. "Hello? Are you ok? May I come in?" He kept great manners with him, ignoring the pain in his face. Dark Shine was impressed and hurt. Hurt physically only of course.
Arc's voice rings across the carriage. "Rifter, buddy! I wanted you to know before you talk to Squirt that I didn't know I was giving the one to punch to you." Tyro spotted the sincerity. You know it's genuine when Arc uses your actual name. The pony then turna his attention to the body of the conductor, tutting. "Poor guy. Still, no need to worry over tickets now." He titters as he looks around for something to move.the courpses with.
Jhera frowned as he analyzed Power's thoughts. This pony had just been killed, but Power didn't seem to give any cares whatsoever. Power replaced his rod in the leather strap on his back before sitting down. "Okay, while y'all figure out how to avoid getting ambushed again, I'm gonna take a nap. Wake me up when we arrive, m'kay?" With that, he leaped onto a chair and closed his eyes with his hooves behind his head.
Rifter turned back to Arc. "He he, its ok. Just a bruise here and there. At least it was defeated eventually." He tried smiling, but couldn't do it with his beak in pain.
Spike sticks his tongue out of the corner of his mouth as he keeps writing. Scribbling from one side of the page to the other before pausing and looking over at Rifter. "Huh? Oh... yeah, sure." He turns his gaze back to the parchment and keeps writing. "Just writing a letter to the princess." He sighs lightly as he keeps going, as it almost doesn't appear he's paying attention to what he's doing. "Anything you wanted me to say?"
Rifter thought a bit. "Tell her to see if she can make sure less civilians get in danger. We dont want any more problems. If thats alright."
