Suddenly there was an freezing rain in Toronto, and by the looks of it, the city is dead. Loss of power all over the place - hospitals, homes and shops - trees knocked over onto the street and onto cars, and literally everything is covered in a layer of ice at this point. Somehow I still have power, although that isn't too much of a concern considering we have a pair of generators downstairs. Unfortunately, there's heavy winds coming in later which are probably going to cause even more loss of power and damage, and doesn't look like power will be restored within the next 72 hours (the damage to power lines being extensive). Looks like Christmas is cancelled this year. EDIT: Link: http://www.cp24.com/live
My plans for Christmas were to stay home, watch Doctor Who, and drink dangerous amounts of alcohol. Unfortunately, I have been informed that I am expected to spend Christmas at my sister's house, with no Doctor Who and no alcohol. Bah, humbug!
It's considerably cheaper than in cartons. That is to say, a 2L carton of milk costs around $3.75, whereas $4 will get you 4L of milk in bags.
Maybe so, but milk tastes horrible when it's stored in plastic jugs, and I imagine that plastic bags are no better. Also, the cheaper milk is probably of a poor quality to begin with.
No, cheap milk is a result of the fact that Canada produces more milk than it can possibly consume (thus it's one of our exports), and the plastic bags seem to have absolutely no effect on the flavor.
All containers, except for glass, affect the flavor of the food or drink contained within them. That's why so many of the more expensive beverages are sold in glass bottles.
