    When a beggar can make more per day than I do (tax not included), it kind of vindicates me for never giving them anything.

    Which reminds me, I came out of Safeway the other day to see a beggar standing in front of the store...accompanied by her four small children. Something about that really rubbed me the wrong way. As in, "child exploitation". Sorry, but there's just no way I'm willing to believe WIC and other such programs wouldn't bend over backwards to give her children food and shelter if they were actually homeless. The government could care less about homeless men (or the occasional homeless old maid), but wherever children are involved, help is almost a given.

    I've encountered a number of bums that weren't actually homeless.
    I've also encountered plenty of homeless people that weren't bums.

    There are way too many people in this country getting government assistance not because they can't work, but because they won't work.
