Can't say that's helped me very much so far; I'm only at net 4 followers (after one un-follow). Then again, I can understand why. After all, my art is really nothing to write home about - as is the case with most pony artists who stick to the show's style, rather than being daring and developing their own - and I'm sure I'd get a sharp influx of followers if I wanted to go through the trouble of making an ask blog, which sounds like a helluva lot more trouble than it's worth.
OH MY GOD, your style is adorable! I seriously have no idea why you don't have more followers, maybe you just need to get noticed, which is difficult enough.
I like your stuff, and Sinder is right; you just need to get noticed. Your blog is relatively new. Give it time. Some artists take years to get noticed, though in this day and age things happen a lot faster. I've been working on my stuff for 2 1/2 years and I still don't get much more than a nod from a friend every now and again telling me to keep going. It's rough work; keep at it.
To be fair, when my blog was in its early stages, I thought up a 'party' event that included drawing other people's OC's into the event. My follower count steadily increased from there, obviously because I drew over 20 OC's into the party, and drawing people's OC's makes (most of) them incredibly happy. I suppose I did shamelessly promote my blog and artwork through these people....But heck, it was a LOT of work. DX - - Auto Merge - - Yeah, My blog is five almost six months old at the moment. Followers don't come in days or even weeks, unless you're PinkiePony or Dennybutt....
I was drawing the party posts traditionally and god my hand hurt. (The backgrounds and some of the colouring was digital) but still, My hand cramped so much. Drawing 20+ characters in multiple posts and interactions basically killed my motivation for months after that.
There's definitely truth to this; ever since I started doing OC requests for folks on deviantArt, I've shot up from my original 3 watchers to 19 (speak of the devil, just got a new one XD). Usually at a rate of 1-2 new watches per upload. Now I just gotta start doing the same for tumblrites... Only problem is that vectoring a piece takes me a while, and the more of them I upload, the more people seem to want in. My request pile is growing faster than my output, which I suppose is good for business, as it were. But at some point I'd like to start drawing the stuff I want to draw, you know?
The same happened to me, I had requests to join even after it started, so I said 'no problem' and put them in as best I could. Some were really thankful, wheras others just left their reference, liked and occasionally reblogged posts with their pony in it and that was it. But overall it was a very positive experience. I was so relieved to get back to the content I wanted to make! It's difficult for me when my hobby becomes work, If I can I'd like to avoid that at all costs.
Heh, that tends to happen when you do something popular. Hell, before I did my Rockout comics, I had less than 50 watchers and now I'm up to 222 since December!!! BTW, I still owe you for doing that avatar for me!
