It actually varies state to state, but for Texas, it's 18. In some states, its 17 with parental consent, etc.

 

They say it is, but we mostly think we are independent =P

I was just wondering, since in germany you can for example drink alcohol with 18, in some party like bavaria you can even drink "soft" Alcohol like beer and wine with 16. And you can get a tatto with 16 if your have the permission of your parents. Normal age is also 18 for them.

 

America is padded. Good thing though. We have A LOT of idiots.

Well, probably the reason America has a lot of idiots is because we are the third most populous country in the world, so let's say 40% are idiots truly, so that means we have a lot more idiots than let's say...Italy.

 

And less than China and India.

Correcto, only with China and India, since they have a much larger rural populace, that means their idiots are more spread out, and even less educated, hence why you never really here about them over there.

Last time I checked America's rural/city divide was: 80-something% in urban, obviously the rest in rural.

Yeah I dont understand that alcohol law. Since you can do everything with 18, you can move out from home and everything you want, but you cant buy beer? Im 20 and i wouldnt even know what to do if i was in america now, since here it is normal for me to drink alcohol on the weekends when im out...

 

Because 'our brains aren't done developing' and Washington's worried we will over-indulge ourself.

Yeah but you also dont learn a normal relation with it. Most Americans i met ( especially on the Oktoberfest) were so intoxicated they didnt even know where they are. i mean you also have this with german teenagers, but the most in my age already know how much is good for them and when it is enough.
