Rolling is actually better than ever now. You just need to level up your agility for it to be good. At 110 agility, you have as many i-frames in your roll as you do in Dark Souls 1 with the Dark Wood Grain Ring ninja flip. Even more at 120 agility, but that takes 99 Adaptability and Attunement to reach, I think. It only takes 40 Adaptability to reach 110 agility, though. I find that shields are more of a crutch now, honestly. They're nice to have, but not at all necessary. Out of my 10 characters, only 3 use a shield. One of those uses a greatshield as his main weapon.
But dark souls 1 had iframes to begin with. Should have called it "Dragon souls" or something. Doesn't feel like a sequal.
I'm still annoyed by the fact that Dark Souls doesn't allow you to choose a man as the player character.
I still haven't figured out what the deal with being a hollow is. I'm assuming that it's undesirable, but I haven't seen any effects from it either way.
You cant summon, invade, be invaded or kindle Its actually benificial in some cases anyway. Especially in dark root garden with "Team gank" chasing you.
Yeah but you also can't summon NPC phantoms. In lore its detrimental. After a while you lose all your memories and become a mindless zombie. Die as that and you stay dead. However the PC is immune to this effect. So they're basically immortal.
You can indeed. You could in other Souls games as well, but it wasn't as effective. Hell, Havel's Greatshield, when fully upgraded, has an attack rating of 380 with a D-C scaling in strength, so its bash will do pretty impressive damage. As a bonus, greatshield attack have high poise damage, staggering enemies easily, and they're strike damage, which is the best kind of physical damage in the game. You can blame that on Miyazaki not directing the project. Dark Souls 1 and 2.
Also the bosses are usually just dudes in armor. I am a dude in armor. I wanna fight more bosses designed by the dude who made the gaping dragon.
I love any game that allows you to kill an enemy and steal their power. Each slaughter is like one step closer to being one with the universe.
Yeah! Personalized loot that, for example, let's you acquire an item, trophy, armor or power unique to a boss you've defeated feels rewarding and gives context to your future endeavors. It's one of the reasons why so many RPG's appeal to me; that system has become very popular.
Ahh but the one thing you learn very quickly about dark souls. [sarcasm]If you see a lootable soul out in the open for no reason you should totally go get it. Nothing will jump out and try to kill you.[/sarcasm] Its happened so many times where I see a lootable body within arms reach and I say "I know this will probably kill me...I shouldn't grab it....Ah screw it I'll take it anyway" And then something falls from the sky and kills me. It's like a recurring joke in the game.
