I try to do it over and over, but I am incapable of reptitve drawing, I can never do the same bit twice , wich makes people hard because of proportion. im thinking about getting pokemon art academy to help. heres my last made piece.
Well, think of it this way Chip. I'm significantly terrible at art. I can't draw worth a damn because my hands aren't good for it. Yours is already 100x better than what I can muster. If you can't draw the same thing, try drawing a different variation of a similar thing, to allow you to work on proportions, depth, among other things. You just have to keep trying. Don't get discouraged. Eventually you WILL get to a place where you feel satisfied with where you are. Honestly, that's how it worked for me with Fighting games. I used to be garbage for years, but constant practice made me even half decent.

There's something to be said for generic characters. Cowboy Bebop had the Badass Crew, consisting of the Team Dad, the Badass, the Femme Fatale, the Playful Hacker, and the Team Pet. It was also one of the best animes ever made.
*tips hat* Well, if it makes you feel any better, you're one of the still-active users I think of when I think of this place. Yeah, but the thing about genre norms is that, the farther back towards the origins of a genre you go, the more they can be seen as creative decisions and not clinging to existing ideas due to a lack of new ones. The original Neon Genesis: Evangelion anime is the perfect example of this. By modern standards, the characters are so cookie-cutter they're laughable, but they were a part of the movement that set the precedent for the norms we observe today. That's how art tends to operate, and is also the basic premise for the evolution of modern art.
