While I was reading your post I saw the mother literally 1 foot away from me. She is freaking out looking everywhere. The baby mice are on the other side of my room because well... that's where I moved them. She's even ignoring the multiple traps I set to capture her so I could relocate them to a broken down shed on my property. She can do whatever she wants there. The traps are rigged with peanut butter, cheese, and chocolate.

She's really brave to get this close to me. Guess she's getting desperate.

    Remember the scale.
Across the room to you is a mile or more to her.
As it's not possible for the babies to have moved on their own, her little mouse brain cannot possibly comprehend that something could have moved them that far.
The woodshed seems like a good option, but you should first focus on reuniting mother and babies.
If nothing else, move the babies to where the mother can find them again. At this stage, they need to feed approximately every two hours, so it's important that they are reunited quickly.

Yeah, I'm actually using them as the bait now. I put them in the trap with food leading to it. They are right back where I found them. I'm calling it a night for now. Hopefully the mother will come out again when the lights go off because I haven't seen or heard her since shortly after I took that picture.

Hmmm... that's difficult, man. I've read that some animal mothers can smell if human's have handled their babies and will abandon them if they do. Poor thing must be distressed either way, trying to figure out where her children have gone. Let me know how that goes.

    The unsung tragedy.

So the mother mouse avoided getting caught last night and managed to snag all the baby mice away. I figured she'd move them away, but hardly. She moved them into one of my dresser drawers 4 feet away from where she had them last time.:DFH: I'm done playing nice. I have to leave for 9 days in the morning and can't have mice tearing up my clothes while I'm gone. If she doesn't get her ass in my trap tonight she won't see her kids again. I'll move them myself and wish them the best of luck without their mother. Of coarse we know what that means. :/

It's unbelievable watching this thing move. How smart are these creatures?! It's sitting here studying my trap and not falling for it. It literally checked all angles and knows it's a trap.

Well, this ended terribly. I tried my absolute best to capture the mother alive. She was much smarter than I gave her credit for. I was only able to get her because of her desperation. I put the babies in a box and put it at the bottom of a small bucket to lure her in. She absolutely refused and kept trying to stretch down in there from the edge. I waited until only her toes were on top while the rest of her was in and covered the top with a box as fast as I could. I was so happy at the time, until I realized that she had tried to escape in that millisecond and I trapped her in on top with only her head sticking out. She was still breathing fine and I tried pushing her head in gently while lifting the box, but she fell in the water and died right next to her baby mice. I must have broken her neck when I threw the box down. I didn't mean it, and now I feel horrible. I have 3 baby mice orphans on my desk in a little nest I made and I'm leaving in 6 hours.(She managed to avoid my trap and even outsmarted me to retrieve one of her babies before I caught her. I have no idea where it is.)

This sucks. I need a hug.

Unfortunately, nature must now take its course. Take solace in the fact that you tried to help. That's about all you can do in this situation.

Ok so I got into Fairy Tail four months ago and I also watched Rave Master yesterday for the first time since 2004 and both shows are created by Hiro Mashima, even though Fairy Tail is a better Anime show I like both shows a lot.

We've all heard that about every kind of animal ever. The most common are birds and any animal whose children are born pink and hairless (hamsters, rabbits, etc.)

    It's complete nonsense.

The only danger in handling a baby animal is hurting the animal or the mother tearing your @*!$ up.
