That's a tricky situation, Simon. I guess the best way to come out to your friends is to test the waters. Mention MLP and how a lot of people outside of the target demographic watch it. If they react strongly against, maybe keep quiet a bit longer, then one day casually mention that you checked it out out of curiosity. If they still act skeptical, assure them to try it themselves. It's not as girly as its title would lead them to believe. If they still seem to think strange of you, I say to insist that it's a good show and you enjoy it regardless of what they think of it. I hope they would respect that. Just don't act nervous or ashamed of liking the show. That'll make it seem to them you think it's something to be shunned or there's something wrong with you. Be earnest, and maybe they'll accept it. I don't know how helpful this is considering it sounds like the same generic, regurgitated advice you see everywhere.
Nobody ever sees my massive stock of wallpapers. Mostly anime and Touhou ones, though. They're prettier. Though I have seen a few nice pony ones.
Thanks for the help. I THINK one of my friends is a brony...he does mention it somethimes. But when he does he jokes about it...could go either way I guess. OK I am gonna make a windows 7 theme and put ALL my wallpapers in it. It is about time I used all the awesome pics I have.
Myself, I follow the advice I posted, but I'm more open about my bronyness. I follow the idea that if they really have that big a problem, then there's nothing to be said. I will like what I'll like, and if they can't take it, tough. I understand that your situation is different though and tried to give you a more subtle approach to try out.
Oh yes. I feel so much happier now that I put these wallpapers up. I can feel myself coming out of the stable now.^^
Fortunately, all of my friends have been pretty cool about me being a brony, some of them are bronies now too. One of my friends was kinda antibrony for a while, but lately he's starting to give in got him to watch two episodes and hang out on the radio for like three whole hours, I was pretty happy about that. ;P I'm a pretty open dude, so whenever I come out about being a brony, I just say it, it seems to work pretty good for me, but I guess confidence is a big factor in that too. Also... my background.
Uploading a bunch of new gifs for everyone's pleasure. After this I need to go to bed. Good night guys.
