Oh hey, I haven't posted here in forever. In other news, I'm irked that Hulu and FX don't have American Horror Story episodes beyond the pilot. So now I'm going to have to catch them all as they air.

o.o I like 'em all about the same. Rainbow Dash is just 20% cooler...

Fanfics I could take or leave as long as they don't have obvious shipping or shipping main characters with fan characters... The road gets a bit muddy down that way, I think.

If a story can add a character, while not making them out to be perfect or immediately placing the main characters of a series with in with an oc as a serious couple or long-time best friend going back before the fiction or series started and still make for an excellent story, I'm for it.

So much R34 hate. I always feel compelled to remind people that attraction to cartoon characters is a genuine sexuality (Schediaphilia to be precise). Imagine someone with said sexuality coming to this place of 'love and tolerance' only to be met with users unanimously agreeing to hate on that aspct of their life. I wouldn't be here long if that were me. I can see why somone would dislike exposure to this material, but just to condemn its very existence doesn't seem very fair in my eyes.

    Kittens are, in fact, cute.

^ This, basically. I can understand hating 34, but not those who draw and/or are fans of it, as if they had personally wronged you or something. It's just as strange to me as people hating on fans of FiM for liking the show. The only argument I can see against R34 is possible exposure to kids, and honestly, I'd rather fault parents for not supervising/using parental locks/teaching their kids to be responsible/etc. etc.

I myself am no fan of R34, and have already explained my utter dislike of it.
But disliking or hating others based on an art style is seriously wrong. If they like it, they aren't a bad person. Everyone has the right to like what they like and dislike what they dislike.

I think exposure to anyone of anything they aren't comfortable with is wrong. I did jump to defend those who enjoy rule 34, but you also have to respect those who don't want to see it. I wouldn't exactly present this as an argument against rule 34, but more of a case of common sense. Luckily, most images pertaining to rule 34 are fairly exlusive to sites that only a fan of them would really visit, and any similar material on mainstream websites such as ponibooru are at least given a warning censor. Exposure to kids is a bit different I suppose, as they don't fully understand the situation. The only realy solution is your suggestion of parents taking more responsibility, not to completely restrict them, but to warn and teach them about using the internet. This would do kids wonders.

I agree. I myself am no fan of it, never have and frankly never will, but I know that how I feel on something is nothing more than that, how I feel. That doesn't make me right or them wrong, it just means that I don't really want to see it. I'm not offended by it, I don't want to throw my computer out the window when I see it, it just doesn't do anything for me.

Why can't this just be common knowledge? Christ, it's so simple. Haters of the community bother me for this reason. It's such a simple concept, how can it not be accepted?

It's because people don't like change.
The series has taken a direct different approach, but they are so used to the fact that F1-3 was for girls. And technically, it still is.
But the show is great, and they just don't realize that we like it because it is just so. They assume we're all "Gay" or "Pedophiles".
Kind of a horrible assumption, I must say.

A horrible assumption indeed. I find it ridiculous how people can be that ignorant, and if I can be brutally honest, stupid. Why on earth would a paedophile (excuse the british spelling) even watch My Little Pony? I fail to see how a show about ponies caters to them. Well, if people are going to be like that, I frankly almost feel sorry for them, knowing they live their life with that amount of ignorance, their quality of life must surely be extremely limited.

Those with an open mind get to experience the full scope of life.

I don't even know the answer to that question. It's just another stereotype about a group of people. Every group has one.
Ours is just a little bit too much of a burden for some people, so they tend to ignore us/Poke fun at us.
Mind you, some people who like the show are gay, I have no doubt, and there is nothing wrong with being so. But I heavily doubt that they "Like the show because they're gay" or "Became gay watching the show". It's a false label, and I hate all labels, good or bad.

Labels suck! There is no need to label any group of people for anything that they do or like. Maybe one day, they will all be gone.

    This. Oh my God this.

Despite sharing similar characteristics, such as a fan of a show or those of the same sexuality, no two people are the same. In fact, those menial similarities are often the only similarities people have. Labelling a group of people, even a positive label, renders all of those differences that make us who we are nonexistant. These 'labels' are, in reality, just a small aspect of a persons complex, and even then this is only true of some labels.

People are people, nothing less and nothing more. Labels serve nothing but to segregate and isolate.

Also, people saying the show turns people gay, yep. It's true. Lauren Faust is actually a subliminal messager hell bent on turning everyone gay for some reason. Oh the horror.

Seriously though, granted some people have come out as gay since entering the fandom, but none have turned gay. Nobody does. Anyone who has come out in this community merely now feel comfortable enough with themselves to make it public. I'm proud to be part of a community that makes people fel that way.

I want to take some time to speak my mind. This shall be my first truly TL:DR post.

I believe that love is unsituational and shouldn't be restricted by laws or your own religion. If you love a man as a man, or a woman as a woman, that's just fine. Love does not and will not discriminate. Take Foxy and Flash, for example. Two people relatively far away from each other, of the same gender, showing a deep commitment for love for each other in a manner that both a man and woman would ordinarily do. When people tell me that these types of relationships are impossible and call me insane for believing what I do, I scoff at them and tell them, "Let me ask you something; if there was a man/woman whom completely understood you and loved you for who you were, but was too afraid to say it, would you call him/her a f*ggot? Would you, even if s/he was completely nice to you and have been friends for the longest of times, abandon them if they expressed their love for you? Come back to me when you can answer 'No, I wouldn't do that.'" I don't think I can count how many times I have said the exact same thing, and only 3 called me back and repeated what I said to them.
All of these newfangled shows demonize gays and bisexuals and even attack some religions. I'm all for having an opinion, but openly bashing them in an indirect manner through a television screen is wrong. People take some of these newfangled shows as a role model for life. They'll grow up swearing when they're 10 or 11, insulting women and deducing them as objects instead of people, just being around them because they "Look pretty" Or their "Body curves just right". That's pitiful and disgusting to me.
Take Degrassi for example. I don't watch the show all that much, but from what I've seen of it, it looks like another crappy reality telly show about teen pregnancy and gay relationships and practically demonizes the ladder. It's disgusting that shows like this are actually being taken seriously be youth, and they think it's right to assume that all gay people are queeny guys who wear pink (And pink is the manliest of colors!) 24/7 and always looking to hook up with another guy. It's irrationable and makes me sick.

You should love anyone based on their personality, not their looks. It's what's on the inside that counts. You shouldn't "Love" a person because of their fame or money. You need to feel that something click inside of you to where you KNOW that's who you want to be with for the rest of your life. It's Foxy and Flash's, Viper's and Spit's, and 2 other people whom of which wished to remain anonymous relationships that make me proud to be part of this community. Their love is genuine, and I can feel it. Nothing, not even distance can truly separate love. The only thing that can truly stop it is if you Give Up. It's not over when you lose. It's over when you give up.

You are you, not what your family thinks you are. Your family does not (And Shouldn't) Dictate who you are as a person. If you are gay/bisexual and your parents/family members disapprove, who cares? If they don't love you for who you are, then you should really think about where THEIR priorities lie. If your family wants to limit and hamper you based on your own sexuality, then that's their problem. Odds are, you're a human being and you have the right to make your own decisions in life. When I found out that my brother was gay, I admit, I was a bit shocked. His coming out put the nail into this coffin; I will never change my opinion. If my little girl is gay or bisexual, I'll have no problem with it, because I know that they are truly happy, and I wouldn't want to hurt my child by preventing her from loving who she wants to love. The only way I'd intervene is if that somebody was a drug addict.

This is a serious issue. I've been considering making an It Only Gets Better video for the LGBT teens who are being constantly bullied and abused because of their sexuality. Those who bully on others based on their own insecurities are pitiful. People have hurt and even killed themselves because of this constant factor, and I plan to do something about it in whatever way I can.

I mourn for all of the gay/bisexual teens that killed themselves or are contemplating it and give you this warning: It only gets better from here. You are your own prson, and you aren't an object. You are a human being and you deserve respect. You don't deserve to be treated like trash because of it. No matter who you are, or what you've done, that's the past, what's set in front of you is the future. You have to look forward to it and set yourself for the present.

Be who YOU want to be, not what your PARENTS or a TV SHOW want you to be. If you want to be a musician, practice. If you want to be someone famous, do your best to be noticed in a positive way. You see these people killing themselves because of these bullies and jerks in real life AND online, and I am damn right determined to help them out in any way possible. You should never resort to that.

While this may not apply to everyone here, this is a simple message to those contemplating of killing or hurting themselves. It only gets better when you move forward. Don't let someone calling you names bring you down. Let their insults carry you, because you know that you're better than them. Have pity on them, and hope that they can right their erronous ways.

And so with my closing statement, I shall say this:
    Never. Give. Up.

As for R34... even if we hate that type of art. It doesn't mean we hate the artist responsible for drawing it.

Either way, I'm out of this discussion because I don't know where to begin and I rather talk about some other topic.
