You have no idea, Testy..... As a wise man once said, "My mind rebels at stagnation- give me problems, give me work!"
hey! i wrote a perfrectly good fanfic 2 nights ago,bt if you need more just ask,im only good at short ones or long if its crucial(please be aware im only up to the episode where fluttershy is offered to be a model)
I don't mean to brag, but I'm pretty good at English. I think the only things stopping me from writing a fanfic is a lack of ideas and I'm worried about humiliating myself, if it's crud.
That's why there are pre-readers, test. If your work is a bit lacking we can offer help. We're not gonna approve of a story unless it's decent, so there's no risk in humiliation. Besides, we're bronies, I don't think we would ridicule anyone. Just write something....anything. That goes for everybody else.
I don't know... with some of my interests, I'd probably be churning out grimdarks your way. Not many ponies like those.
Chocolatechip is right, as long as it's not overdone, you can write anything up and I'll find something to enjoy about it.
Btw all you ponys and gentlecolts, there is a new thread up in genral discussion for the first seasonal pinkie pie cooking award, see the thread for details!
Well, Lightning, what I mean is that the action that occurs should make sense in the story. Let's say you wrote a light shipping fic. The whole story has been written to show the start of relationship between the characters. Then, all of a sudden, there is a huge passionate "clop" scene in full detail. With the way it was written, that scene was completely out of nowhere. It was overdone and unneeded compared to the rest of the fic. Of course, that wouldn't make it past us in the first place. Same goes for grimdark. You can be descriptive all you want when it comes to the grisly parts of the story, but just have it make sense. Having a character blow up in a million bloody chunks after being shot with a handgun is overdone unless properly explained. Of course, I might be spewing nonsense, but that's how I define it. There's a reason there is more than one fic mod.
I'm glad you spoke up and gave your opinion. I think it's good advice really for anypony, but especially those who might be new at writing. Glad you feel better. Didn't mean to cause you any stress. *Hugs*
*hugs* Thanks! Yeah, I've always had an inferiority complex for as long as I can remember. I hate saying or doing things and getting criticized for it, it doesn't help my mood or self esteem.
That is so unbelievably identical to how I feel I actually thought I wrote that at one point, and got really confused.
