    I see a possible reason for that.
    Applejack being one of the ponies that has a full time paid job as a stable source
    of income is also the only pony that seems to do calculations related to bits during the show.
    Ableit she only ever did them twice.

    Yes, I always thought of AJ as the economist of the group, since she's at least part-owner of the family business and what have you.

    Which is kind of funny considering her "fancy mathematics" comment. Of course, you don't need anything *too* fancy to be an economist.
