Well RPing with ponies kind of determines this for me. The amount of times I've said "everypony" and referred to parts of the body of a horse rather than a human i.e. the muzzle, hooves, mean that I've adapted to talking online like how the show would be. I tone it down in serious conversations, but see no problem with the use of "everypony" and stuff like that, because it's part of the fandom and actually a cool little funny thing for us to have, like a dictionary for bronies.
Spike is A pony stuck in a dragons body XD Also @OP: Yeah, as Applejack would say, I gotta say, your making a big deal out of nothing, I don't really see how people can enjoy cartoons or fictional media at all if they let stuff like this bother em, but meh, to each their own I suppose.
it's a world filled with ponies that can fly, talk, and somteimes even move flaming masses in space, and your looking for logic?
i think its epic and creative! i would have never came up with something like that! i say it in real life allllllll the time and my firends are like: and then im all like *facehoof* and they are like "get a life". *sniff sniff*
I think the city names are humorous! And i love the term "Everypony". As SunBurn said as well, it helps the show to distinguish itself. You're taking too cynical of a view on the shows colloquialisms!
Maybe Spike said it best in the Magic.MOV (AKA Rarit E's current sig). You all can just say any/every body, instead of any/every pony. As far 'pony' replacing body, I have no issue with it, in fact I like it. Even though you have dragons and other creatures (don't know if Zebras are included since Zebras are technically horses, just like ponies), using pony fits cause of the title and roughly 85% of the characters are pony/horse-like. To me the OP is just over-rationalizing and being too picky. I for one love the pony version of the cities, and I try to make my own with other cities and towns to the best that I can (Trotsa = Tulsa, Oklahoma where I live cause horses trot when they run, or Sea Saddle = Seattle, Washington, where I plan to move to cause you put a saddle on a horse to ride it). And I even think of others to the best of my ability and turn it into a game to occupy me for a bit
I have no problems with the city names, but when I look at fan-made maps of Equestria, I just can't help but feel that the fandom has a tendency to run it into the dirt.
Well i call other Bronies "Bro" If im in the company of more then One Brony i will say Everypony and things like that, it's just something that we use to make ourselves stand out... Nothing wrong with it, unless you go waaaay overboard, i wouldnt use that language for school tests or things like that...
I only say "every pony" or "any pony", or any other MLP lingo on here since this is the only MLP-centered place I go to.
Ever since I started watching this show during Summer 2011 i've never really had a problem with the fact that the characters use the word pony in place of the word body or the fact that several of the locations in the show are renamed after real life places but all have something to do with ponies/ horses although I could see how things like that would get on the nerves of some people though.
I think they just wanted to make some names that would apply to that one race. Perhaps it's a label where ponies label their cities after themselves and we label our cities random names. Besides: MANhattan, and possibly a few other cities, we label our cities after different things. no matter what the case, it doesn't really matter anyway. It's not that big of a deal, they are just names.
Perhaps I love corny puns way too much, but I always chuckle when I hear some new location with a ponified parody name. Fillydelphia, Manehattan, etc. I think it's quite clever l-) As for the "everypony" issue; we can hear them use "everyone" more than once, so its totally acceptable to not use "everypony" in that respect. Is it a little silly? Yep, but so is a show about talking ponies, hehe. Nothing wrong with a little silliness in my opinion x3 Silly silly silly. Puns are fun :derpe:
It fits with the show, it's part of what makes it what it is. They're ponies, so it only makes sense they would say 'somepony' or 'everypony' instead of their normal counterparts. I don't really see a need to write like that on here or use in casual conversation though, I never have.
I never use the terms in everyday conversation either. It wouldn't make sense to anypony else and it'd make me look foalish in the end x3 Get it?! "Foal"-ish?! It's funny because puns! hehe, I know I know, it's kinda dumb, but I'm a silly fellow, and I'm not gonna take myself, or some cartoon, too seriously. All in good fun, everypony l-)
Puns? Puns!! PPPUUUUUUNNNSSSSS!!!!!!!! :C I really hope you don't use puns in everyday conversations because some people really don't take kindly to it (sometimes in a violent way)
Anyone who'd get violent because of a little corny humor ain't worth talking to, man. I'd just do like Fluttershy would do and leaf them be, followed by a Dash to freedom if they decide they simply must cause multitudes of pain upon my body because I was having fun. Shame on me :Trollestia: I'm fast when I have to be, and I shall unleash my ninja skills if I absolutely have to l3
