He rolled his eyes. "Easy, tiger. You're still mostly dead." * * * She took his hand again and pulled him into the crowd.
"I'm serious, Wren," he said, frowning. "You shouldn't be doing this." * * * She pulled him close to her and began to dance with him like they had been doing it their whole life.
"Wren, please," he said, his voice sharpening a little. "Please." * * * She laughed, twirling with him easily like she had been doing it for her whole life. She probably had. "Faster!"
She looked over at him curiously before approaching him. "..Very well." *** He laughed brightly, spinning her and moving faster.
He nodded, gesturing to the chair before continuing to work. * * * Her arms draped around his shoulders as they spun faster and faster. The music was loud and they were locked in a quickly moving circle. The music stopped with a loud flourish and the crowd cheered, applauding the song. Clara looked up at Ezekiel, her eyes breathless and sparkling as she considered him.
She sat back down, taking her tea again as she observed him. *** He was watching her ruh bright, excited eyes, a wide smile on his face that revealed straight, white teeth and slight dimples.
He continued working, glancing over at her. "What?" * * * Her face softened and she reached up to cup his jaw gently, her thumb tracing his cheekbone.
He huffed, continuing to put the books away. * * * She gave him a small smile before the music started up again.
She sipped her tea again, leaning back. *** He looked up at the band, momentarily distracted before looking down at her again with a small smile.
"Are you with me again, then?" he asked after a moment. "Permanently?" * * * She was watching him thoughtfully, her smile still soft and present as she watched him, the crowd starting up around them again.
"Yes," she replied easily, "that's correct." *** He seemed hesitant, looking around. "Would you.. like to dance?"
He gave her a grin. "So, you'll never leave me again?" * * * She noticed his hesitance and frowned before nodding. "Yeah. Again!"
She looked up at him with a smile. "Only to go home for the night." *** He smiled, taking her hands and dancing again.
"Well, we can't have that," he said playfully. "I'll have Catarina commission you a room." * * * She slipped her arms around his waist, pulling him closer as she increased the tempo.
She paused, tilting her head slightly. "Catarina?" *** He rested his hands on her waist as well, grinning.
He glanced over at her, a sour look on his face. “Yes. My fiancée,” he said dryly, dusting off some books. *** She looked up at him with a small grin as the dance changed to match their closer quarters.
