I don't need, want, or own any guns. Having a hunting rifle is understandable... But people wanting semi aromatic guns just doesn't make sense to me. I love archery so I will stick with my compact bow.
#SWAGMASTERRACEPRIDE Bows are amazing. They take skill, and a hell of a lot of technique to shoot. I approve. Archery is an art in its own special way.
So true! Most people don't look at Archery that way. To most it is just a boring sport, while to others it's an art.
These type of posts always bug me...It's nothing against you in particular, but I never understand the "having a hunting rifle is understandable" point when talking down SA weaponry. What defines a "hunting rifle"? The fact that it possess a bolt or lever action? Classically or traditionally, perhaps so, but nowadays many people hunt with SA weapons, as well as use them for target practice/recreation or competitions. Just as can be and is done with a "hunting rifle." The calibers of hunting qualified rounds remain the same, all that has changed is the aesthetics and handling of the tool. The same can be said with bows. Compound w/ fancy sights, or good ol' recurve, and in the end all boils down to preferences...
Really don't understand the desire to own a gun :/ Bows, yeah - Ok, traditional weaponry, I can dig that. But to own a gun for self defence (or any reason for that matter)? Wouldn't you sooner wear bulletproof clothing? I'm not a die-hard pacifist or anything, but there's something about real guns that just creep me out.
It's a thing that you either get or don't, and really just comes down to where and how you were raised. I was born in a family that hunting has always been a tradition, so naturally guns (and the prospects of hunting in general) are a thing I'm around a lot. I do think that walking around with a holstered weapon for self defense is kinda pushing it, but for in-home and property protection it's natural and peace of mind to me, but to someone else might be ridiculous.
Doesn't seem to have to do with how I was raised. My family for the most part all own guns and many hunt, but I've always despised the very idea of guns. Just the thought of holding one makes my skin crawl.
Being around owners is one thing. I mean I was literally out in the wilderness from like 4 years old learning from my father, not just for hunting, but country and mountainous living in general. My love and respect for the wild and outdoors is something very special to me, and as a result intrinsically becomes a part of me. My interest of guns comes from my father taking me on hunts with him at those earlier ages. It's a lifestyle factor that unless you are directly involved in, will not make a lot of sense.
see thats the thing being around gun owners is one thing but thereal reason some people dislike them seems to be they misplace their hate on them by blaming the gun for killing. guns only kill when a person pulls the trigger. don't get me wrong as accidents do happen but then again should we blame cars for crashing when someone choses to drive recklessly? true gun owners are responsible and use basic safety guidelines, sure some peope do get shot by gangs and return insane people but these would be just as violent without guns just without the pop of bullets firing
I see what you mean. If you want to hunt SA Weapons then fine. I can't stop you. But at that point what bugs me is the safety. If anyone with a pretty clean background and a good bit of money can go out and buy an SA weapon... Then use if for whatever they like... Then there is a major safety concern there. There are so many shooting that happen because the gun laws are not very strict. In summary I don't like the fact that the public can buy the weapons that they can right now and that the laws that are in order are as useless as they are. That just my opinion.
I definitely can agree that gun shops do not do enough to keep them out of bad hands. A majority of the laws in place already actually would be decent if they were enforced properly. <- That in itself is the real problem in my eyes. And totally, background checks don't cut it, many of these shootings come out of nowhere from John Doe's with squeaky clean records. But again, it's not just SA weapons at fault. They're just the more popular choice because of how easy to use they are, both for sportsmen and unfortunately criminals. The ease of use=popularity factor however is a good enough reason to up security on SA weapons, which I'm fine with.
I am quite fond of my 1911 as well. Interestingly enough, it only cost me $459.00 (it is a variant of Filipino manufacture, so low labor costs have a lot to do with the price, but the gun has some interesting features).
Get one. They're cheap, fun, and with enough practice, an extremely quiet and effective hunting weapon.
They are quite fun. I used to have one. Till I hit the cat with it and my parents took it away lol. It's not like it hurt the cat or anything.
I am not sure if I will get around to doing this or not, given that I frequent gun ranges and I don't have time to get into hunting (I am a full-time college student and a full-time worker). I am working on piecing together a Belgian FN-49 (Egyptian contract) rifle.
I want a pistol collection, for sure at least. Not just the standard 9mm stuff too. I mean the works. Revolvers, Magnums, etc. Rifles are too scary for me, and I don't want to own any. I'd be happy just owning a luger, haha ♪
