A foolish move.
If you only take MOST of the candy, they will often assume that they simply had a large group of Trick-or-Treaters show up, and will sometimes refill the bowl.
This allows you the opportunity to make a second grab, and makes them more likely to leave out unattended candy the next year.

Just remember that the lonely bowl of candy is not always unguarded.
Always hang back for a few minutes to make sure that the homeowner is not simply lying in wait, disguised as a pile of leaves or something similar.

 

I will simply continue on with my regular routine on Halloween, i.e. go to college and work.

 

No, its definitely national. I would be incredibly surprised if its not a common thing in Britain either.

 

There will probably be some brony meetup for Halloween here, so since I don't have any pony related costume, I'll probably dress up either as Finn the Human (from Adventure Time), or Engineer (from TF2). If I'll have time, I'll try to set up Finn Box Cat costume (From last episode of Adventure Time)

 

Are you sure? I have never heard of fireworks on Halloween before. And I've heard some pretty weird stuff. It might be because the area of the US I live in is known for strict fireworks regulations.

EDIT: I just looked it up. Do you live outside the US? Because that could be why you have fireworks and I don't.

That explains my confusion. Over here in the states, we don't do the whole fireworks deal. I think I understand the whole reason behind it, but I like to see just how creative people can get at scaring kids that doesn't include explosives.

 

I'm doing Trunk-or-Treat at my church. Hopefully I'll still get to go to a couple haunted houses.

One of the cool things I like about my university during Halloween is that some people go to class dressed in costumes.
