He entered his own pod and locked it. Seconds counted down on the screen. 1:45. 1:20. 50. 25. 10. 5. 2. 1. The ground beneath the team falls as they are shot out of the ship and towards the planet.
Crimson admired the view of Biko's atmosphere. It reminded him...... of her. Crimson and his dead girlfriend Sunny used to travel together on a colony ship. When the ship was raided by the covernent to escape from the war and travel to reach, she was excecuted in front of Crimsons eyes as he managed to escape on a lifepod. He was found several days later by the UNSC and enlisted to fight the very soliders that killed her. Crimson remained quiet as the dropship entered the atmosphere.
Red watched out the small pod window as the pod plummeted towards the planet. He braced himself for when the pod was to hit the atmosphere, and when it did, it hit big. A massive jolt and red flames leaked up from the front of the drop pod in front of the window and was complimented by flashing red lights and a klaxon inside that was telling Red that he was off target. Cursing to himself, he watched helplessly as the pod plummeted and the others grew more and more separated, "Here we go again." He muttered to himself, "I thought these things were supposed to have a one third chance of hitting on target." He muttered as atmospheric turbulence buffered his pod. Then he felt the g-forces suddenly kick in heavily as the reverse thrusters of the pod kicked in, and the pod for once landed softly on top of a building. The pod popped open and Red took his first step into hell.
He remained quiet as the pod hurtled through the planets atmosphere. Below, a forest spread around a small city. To the north, purple dots scattered the landscape as covenant dig a large hole in the ground. The pod shakes as turbulence rocks it. Flames can be seen outside the pod. The pod, traveling at an extremely high velocity, impacts the ground, sending a minor quake out from it. The door pops off and he steps out into the abandoned street. From the rooftops, Jackals can be seen looking for the source of the disruption. Quickly, he sprints into a nearby building.
Cal's stomach lurched at the initial drop. Always hated that part.. he thought. As he approached the surface of Biko, he began to make out covenant forces grouped around a dig site. Suddenly, his pod shook. "What the hell?" He asked himself. Looking around Cal saw a banshee soaring away from him. As it looped around, Cal took hold of the rudimentary control system and tried to steer, clipping the banshee's wing in the process. "Damnit!" he grunted. The air inside the pod was unbearably hot; most of it's shielding had been lost. The damaged areas began to glow red from the heat as the pod's comm system failed. He hit the ground with a dull thud, and jumped out into the cool air, taking several deep breaths while he took cover in an alley.
The drop was like all the other drops fire did. She braced for impact crushing some grunts and a brute. Fire then steadied herself launching the door open, recalibrating the VISR and headed into the building holding her silenced m7 Smg, with the shotgun on her back. She got on to the roof noticing a pod a few clicks north on the street. She looked around noticing the gap between buildings wasn't wide so she started to run and jump between the buildings before coming across a bunch of grunts and brutes. "buck". She said under her breath before cocking her shotgun.
Red stared out at the place he found himself in, it was obviously far behind enemy lines, as there was almost no one there and the area was covered in the signs of fighting and Covenant occupation. He gulped as he thought about how far he would have to go to get to his objective. He made his way into the building, flipping on his helmet light so he could see in the dark building and got his BR into an easy to reach position as he nervously went through the building, no telling what he might run into in here. He peeked inside a room to see a jackal sniper staring out a window as a guard. He snuck up silently behind it then whacked it in the back of the neck with his BR, breaking its fragile neck. He then quickly ran out of the room and as far away as possible, going blindly through the buildings, not wishing to risk travel on the streets.
"Damn it, i hate it when that happens." Crimson was alone and it not his first time being so. According to his helmet, the closest member of his squad was a good 32 km away and in an area full of covernent. "Might as well get walking then..." he said as he headed east. A few hours later, he came across a dead squad of UNSC marine's. Their bodys were badly decomposed, which indicates that they were killed months before. Crimson took their dog tags in memory and headed off to join up with his squad.
