I'm not sure about the Intuos, but the Bamboo is a fairly basic tablet. The only thing aside from the pen and surface is a two-way button on the pen for right- and middle-clicks.

    :/

I've used a Bamboo before, I actually prefer them over anything else.

Then again, I have a screwed up tablet at home, so...

Ah guess that answers that :derpe:
My intuos has 6 buttons, a wheel and another button within the wheel (brush size, canvas rotation, layer cycle and zoom can be done with the wheel).

I was planning on getting a tablet as well...

And I'm still uncertain on which one to get. It sounds like Greys is better, but more people prefer Bamboos... How much are these?

I 'unno. Our school has one so that's how I found out. Probably between 50 and 100 for a Bamboo, and with what Grey said, about 150-300 for his tablet.

    Of course- I'm only guessing.

You can get them used around 50 dollars, at least for a small one (21 square inches)
I've been thinking of getting one for a while but I just haven't had the extra cash to justify spending on something like that, I can easily afford the small one though - would the size of a small one be a problem?

I got my Bamboo Pen for $70 new from the local Best Buy. Haven't bothered to install the drivers yet, considering all the extra fluff it wants you to install; I don't have a use for pressure sensitivity either, considering my hatred of inconsistent line thicknesses. It still works fine without the drivers, though. (Something the Pen+Touch model doesn't, as I learned when my Animation class got those models.)

The small size isn't a big concern, assuming your editor of choice has an Undo button. There's enough surface area to make your strokes with, assuming you turn the sensitivity up (it acts just like a regular mouse without the drivers) and don't draw too large. It's also quite good for tracing small images from magazines; although for that, you might wanna install the drivers. (Installing the drivers gives you the option of a secondary mode where each spot on the tablet directly correlates to an on-screen position.)

(And for the record, an Intuos starts at $229.)

The money in tablets is in the size, rather than the brand. The small bamboo/intuos aren't 'too much' different, I think the intuos is $60ish more or so (don't hold me to that).
But the size of the 'active area' (not the TABLET itself just the drawing area) is where the price is determined, it's stupid.

I got the smallest one, I think the next size up (by a handful of inches) was about $100 more or something absolutely ridiculous.
The main problem with a small one is if you've got a big screen it will take a week or two to get used to the feel/how much you need to move the pen to get from part of the screen to another and your drawings, bad or good artist will probably be awful for that period but once you know your tablet you won't see any problem with a small one. I'm glad I didn't fork out for the size up, personally I'd save your money and buy some decent software to go with it. - You can zoom in on all decent graphic programs anyway so...? :p

Well... All I need to do now is pony up some cash... :)P BWAHAHAAHAHAHAH!!! THE PUNS ARE MY MASTERS!!!)

I maybe probably might almost get the 21 inch one or whichever is cheaper and a good size. :derpe:

Hmm... Tablets aren't as great as I thought... Apparently, the picture doesn't show up on the actual pad place. I'm sure I'm gonna try the tablets anyways, but this could get really annoying.

Derpy says people get used to it, but I've been drawing free hand all my life, and... I'm just making excuses. It might not even be a problem. :D (hopefully)
