I was a Furry prior to joining the fandom. I found out about the show almost instantly and thought that the animation style was absolutely brilliant, then I got attracted to the music and just how good the quality was. Around a season or so later, I joined the fandom and EP on October 2011
I used wonder why my friends watched the show. So eventually a friend let me use his Netflix to watch it and i really enjoyed it, so i kept watching.
Well, for a long while I saw it a lot on the Internet (People talking about it, talk of Bronies and how awesome the show was). For a while I didn't think much of it (Before I became a Brony though I never had any issue with the thought of teen and fully grown men liking the show. Seemed perfectly fine to me and still does. Woman to, of course.). After getting the impression that it was such an awesome show from all the fans talking about it, I one day thought "What is it that makes this show SO popular?..." so I decided to watch the first episode. And then the next episode.....and then the next episode, etc etc etc.... I then came to the conclusion that I am now a Brony too, and love the show. (As I continued watching MOAR episodes. ^.^)
I had stumbled across a Brony documentary. I didn't know what a Brony was, so I watched it. Shortly after that I decided to give the show a go and the rest is history. I was sold.
