How Rainbow Dash and I became friends

((To start this off, If you see any bad grammar I'm sorry, I am not THAT good on it))


It was a fine day in Ponyville for me. The morning started off great and the weather was perfect.

Oh I forgot, how rude of me. My name is Flash Wind if you haven’t figured it out. I’m just a normal, male Pegasus who lives over Ponyville.

Anyways, the day started out great, since I knew that later on tonight was going to be even better. Tonight was going to be the “Summer Sun Celebration”. The best thing about that was that the princess was going to be in Ponyville to raise the sun for the next day. Everypony was excited. When sun broke through the horizon, I got up and stretched my wings and jumped off of my cloud, landed softly on the ground in the Ponyville Square. It was early in the morning and there were already ponies preparing the town for the Celebration. The Cakes were baking many goods, Pinkie Pie was getting the party supplies ready, Applejack was working on making many kinds of her signature apple foods, Rarity was decorating the place with her many fabrics and gems, and Fluttershy was working on getting her chorus of birds ready. I looked around, but I didn’t see Rainbow Dash anywhere. I really didn’t care for her anyways. We weren’t… friends or anything. Actually to tell you the truth we were enemies. So back on subject, I didn’t see her anywhere. It was weird because she would normally be up this early. Soon that thought had left me and I went looking for anypony that needed me to help them out with my wind.

The day went by pretty fast, faster than I actually thought because as soon as I was able to relax, it was starting to get dark. Throughout that time I did get an invite from Pinkie Pie to go to a party to greet this new pony named Twilight Sparkle. I wasn’t really interested though, so sadly, I denied her offer. She was pretty disappointed, but was slightly fine with it. The main reason I didn’t want to go was that every party Pinkie Pie threw, Rainbow Dash was there. When I said we were enemies, I really meant that we were ENEMIES.

So throughout most of that night I was flying and practicing while doing my weather duties. It was quite relaxing. Afterwards, I saw the ponies all gathering around to see the sun rise. So taking that hint, I flew down and went inside. I walk in and what do you know, Rainbow Dash is there. I didn’t want to have her ruin my peace so I just simply flew up and landed on one of the upper levels of the building.

Soon everypony was introduced to the sound of birds and horns performing music. I saw Fluttershy conducting the birds. It looked like she did a good job. After that, the spot light was turned on and shined on the Mayor of Ponyville. She announced to everypony about the Summer Sun Celebration, and then she finally announced the princess. I saw Rarity open the curtain, but to my surprise, the princess wasn’t there. I saw everypony shocked when they saw this, I was shocked as well. The mayor told us to stay calm. I was trying to but when Rarity came back and announced that the princess was gone, that’s when I was in complete shock. To add to that, I heard Pinky pie scream and then a dark mist appeared. Then *Poof*, there was this, dark Alicorn pony standing there. She really didn’t look friendly to me. “What did you do to our princess!” were the words that Rainbow Dash spoke. Like always, she has that attitude when she is mad. I chuckled a bit though when I saw Applejack holding her back. But that laughing moment vanished fast. This dark pony was saying that she was royalty, and then she was asking if we knew who she was. I never really knew her, but I was guessing that I was going to find out soon. She continued talking and ranting that she was locked away for a thousand years. She was asking if any of us knew the Legend. “Legend? Which Legend?” I mumbled to myself in question. That’s when I saw a Purple unicorn come forth and admitted to knowing who she was. After the words “Nightmare Moon” left this mares mouth that’s when it all clicked. After that moment, Nightmare Moon then announced that she was going to bring the night forever. Out of anger, I quickly flew forward to tackle this Nightmare Moon but she quickly vanished. I couldn’t find her anywhere. I looked around and soon found the Purple mare. Knowing what she knew, maybe she could have the answers to this problem.

I quickly decided to try and follow her when she ran out. It looked like I wasn’t the only one because as soon as I got out, I saw Rainbow Dash following her. Angered again by her, I decided to just follow this mare while hiding.

Soon I made it to this mares’ house as I stayed outside and listened in through the windows. I could hear crashes of books and this mare mumbling out the word “Elements of Harmony”. I really didn’t know what she was meaning, but soon I hear Rainbow Dash coming in this mares’ house and asking her questions on what these “Elements of Harmony” were. Like always, Rainbow dash is the one to always crash into other ponies businesses. But I soon heard Applejack come into the mix. Slightly curious, I took a quick peek inside to see Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity too. I quickly went back to hiding while I listened in. I overheard this mare explaining that these things called the “Elements of Harmony” and on how they were the only things that could stop Nightmare Moon. “Elements of harmony, a reference guide” said Pinkie Pie. I automatically assumed that she was reading something off of a book. Soon I heard the mare run in and asked her how she found it. “It was under E” Pinkie replied in a cheerful tone. That made me chuckled a bit. Pinkie Pie always has that funny cheerful mood no matter what the situation is. After I was done chuckling, I overheard the mare read off of her book. She said that the 5 known elements were “Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Honesty, and Loyalty”. I knew I was loyal enough. I had a feeling that maybe I could find this Element of Harmony called “Loyalty”.

I was listening in on there conversation more, but soon was interrupted by a noise. I looked around, and saw that same dark mist that I saw then Nightmare Moon appeared. It just came up to the window and then zipped away. To my quick reaction, I followed this mist into the Everfree Forest. I carelessly double thought on stopping so I continued to follow this mist deeper and deeper into the forest. The hard thing was that the deeper I went in, the harder it was to fly. Soon I had to run, but the mist had already vanished by that time. Unhappy, I decided to start heading back home, thinking that maybe that mare could help out with more clues.

On my way back, I heard some muttering in the distance. Quickly I jumped in some bushes and stayed hidden. As the voices got closer, I started to guess these voices. I heard Applejack, then Rarity, then that mare, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and finally… Rainbow Dash. I was wondering what they were all doing out here. I stayed hidden while they were passing, but silly me… I step on a twig and grab all of those mares attention. “Come out! Whoever you are” the purple mare yelled to me. “Yea! Come out or meet the wrath of Rainbow Dash” Rainbow Dash added. Pretty annoyed by Rainbow Dash, I stepped out of the bushes. “And what makes you think you can do that to me Rainbow? Huh?” I said back to her. “Flash Wind?!” Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie said in a slight shock. “Flash Wind?” the purple mare repeated in a questionable manner. “Flash Wind!!!!!???” Rainbow Dash replied to me in a surprised yet annoyed tone. “What the hay are you doing out here anyways?!” Rainbow Dash snapped to me while she landed in front of me, anger in her face. “I was going to ask you the same question Rainbow” I replied. “I asked you first!” Rainbow Dash snapped to me in reply. “Like you really need to know. It would be too much for a slow mare like you to take in” I said to Rainbow Dash calmly, smirking. “Slow?! SLOW?!!!!! OH I’LL SHOW YOU WHO’S SLOW!” Rainbow Dash replied to me pretty angered by what I said. “Rainbow!” Applejack said to Rainbow Dash in a stern tone. “But… he called me slow! I’m not letting this Pegasus get away with saying that!” Rainbow Dash said to Applejack. She refused though and made Rainbow Dash go back to the others. “Go along with your little group. I’m sure a simple mare like you couldn’t handle this journey ALONE” I said back to her. That really triggered her because she quickly flew back and landed in front of me, yelling at me. I yelled back at her.

*ROAR!!!!!!* came a sound in the forest, I stopped and so did Rainbow Dash as we both looked to were the noise came from. Everypony was still. “Um… Rainbow? Did you make that noise?” I just simply asked. “No… did you?” she said in reply. I replied back with a no. Another roar came as the bushes and trees rustled. A bear came out. It looked like it was pretty mad to. “A BEAR!” The Purple mare yelled. Quickly I lunged forwards and landed in front of the bear. I had a feeling that Rainbow Dashes and my yelling woke this bear. “Go! Go on and try to save the Princess” I yelled to the others. I saw that Rainbow Dash was about to refuse. “Go Rainbow Dash!” I yelled. She quickly flew off with the others.

My attention quickly turned back to the angry bear as I stood my ground. I don’t know what happened or what I did but I felt changed. I watched the bear as it prepared to swing its paw at me. I jumped quickly, trying to fly a bit but the forest was too thick for me to use my wings. I quickly landed, but I was too late to react again as the bears paw slammed into me, sending me flying as I hit the ground. I was dazed a bit, trying to get up. The bear came back up to me and tried to go for an attack, but I quickly reacted and flapped my wings hard as I created a gust of wind. I used it to block the bears attack. With that I had enough time to get up to my hooves and think. I quickly flapped up once as I flapped my wings hard to create a bigger wind storm. Caught off guard, I was hit again by the bears paw again as this time its claws reached me, cutting my side as I hit the ground again. I coughed, getting up slowly as blood dripped down my side. I needed to scare this bear. I ran up and flapped down as I became airborne again. I flew towards the bear. I create another big winds storm and to finish it off, I stop right in front of the bear and sprung my wings open in front of the bear to look bigger. Surprisingly it worked as the bear ran away. I flapped as I landed and folded my wings. Blood dripped down my side and a bruise was forming on my neck. I felt weak and tired. I tried to walk, but it didn’t work, so I lay on the ground, slowly drifting into unconsciousness.

When I woke up, I was in the pony hospital. I sat up and saw that my side was bandaged. I was pretty confused, looking around and wondering how I ended up here. Then a pony walked in. “Flash Wind. You have some visitors” the doctor pony said. Then who would have guessed, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and the purple Unicorn all came in. “Flash Wind! You ok?” Pinkie Pie asked. I chuckled a bit. “Yea, I’m fine” I said. I noticed Rainbow Dash was distant from me ant the others, staying quiet and to herself. “It was pretty brave of ya’ to battle that bear back there” Applejack said. “Yea” I said in reply. “Um… did you hurt the poor thing?” Fluttershy asked in her shy voice. “No, I just scared it away” I replied. “Oh, that’s good” Fluttershy said with a smile. “Oh Darling, You just look horrible right now” Rarity added. “It’s nothing really” I replied. “Nothing huh? Well according to Rainbow when she found you, you were almost dead” said the purple mare. “Really?!” I asked, looking at Rainbow. She just turned her head away from me. “Oh I’m sorry, I never got your name” I said to the purple mare. “Oh, I’m Twilight Sparkle. The princesses’ loyal student” She said. “So you are Twilight” I said. “Well I think we should leave Flash so he can rest” Twilight said as they all left, except for Rainbow Dash. Rainbow flew up to me. “So… How are you doing?” Rainbow asked, feeling slightly guilty. “If you’re asking on how my feelings are for you, pretty bad” I said. Rainbow didn’t answer. “But slightly relieved that you’re ok” I added. She was slightly surprised that I said that. “Well… That was pretty radical of you to fight off that bear…” she said. She was about to leave. “Rainbow.” I said stopping her. “Maybe we could stop this war between us and be friends?” I asked. Rainbow looked at me and smiled. “I’ve been waiting for you to say that” she said accepting my request. She then left.

It was boring throughout the rest of the day. Well, most of it. What was cool was that the princess visited me, telling me how she heard from Twilight that I helped them with that bear. She wanted to thank me. Then she stayed for a while longer, asking me about my past. That was pretty surprising yet odd that she wanted to hear about my fillyhood. I told her everything. She was pleased by my story. I was told by her that I had a heart of Bravery and Courage. That, to her, was as grand as the Elements of Harmony. She knew I was loyal, but she saw bravery and Courage more than Loyalty. The rest of the day went by in the same way, boring. Then to finish my day at the hospital, I had a visitor come in. It was another Alicorn. I looked at her in a confused way. She came up to me and apologized for my injury and for what she had done to everypony. She told me that she was Nightmare Moon. But her real name is Luna, princess of the moon. She then thanked me for helping the others with that bear. If it wasn’t for me, Luna would have still been trapped in that evil that took over her.

So that’s the story on how I allied with Rainbow Dash and helped with the others to save the princess. Yea… I will never forget that day, and night.

 

LOL! Thanks. Yea, I noticed ALOT of errors when I read through it a few times, So I'm in the process of fixing them. I might extend it too. Who knows.
