But I'm asking a fellow user a question. I'm using the tips in OPs post to get to know him better. I'm on topic.
And I have stopped caring at this point. My point is simple. It's on my pen. It's also that I'm not about to change my posting style Just because others don't like it. That's just not a good enough reason for me. EDIT: Heck, I'd do the exact opposite mostly.
It seems I have created a small squad of trolls. See? My advice works! The forum is a better place for everyone now.
I'd say there's a troll already in everyone. They've just achieved their ascension. Sent from my Transformer
Then this should be in the other thread. In fact. I think a thread auto merge is necessary. Sent from my Transformer
The word 'Religion' has negative connotations. Couldn't you just come up with an awesome nickname for your festering little troll sapiens? Something epic and not too obvious. :I
Because then we start getting into derogatory terms. This should probably go in the CS thread. Sent from my Transformer
This. The OP is giving tips to new users how to feel comfortable in this community. This is a pretty tight community we have on this site, and for one to fully appreciate it, they have to be a part of it. Once they are comfortable posting here, Dansze, then you have my permission to convert them into trolls.
Yeah really this. The things Dan is suggesting seems more appropriate for more established members. I made this so brand new members could jump right into the community and then branch off into their own style of posting when they are a more prominent member and more confident which I think this provides that relatively quickly. And yes, I detest trolling. Whatever floats your boat bruh.
Any further posting that can be seen as detrimental or negative to the purpose of this topic, I will lock this thread. This thread is for new users to find some guidance to the forums, not discussing religion and trolling. Seriously people.
Because I definately need your permission And that's the problem with this guide. It implies that everyone posts this way, which is FAR from true. Thus, I recommended an addition to the guide that clarifies the posting style of the more 'advanced' members. This way, not only can people post, they can also understand what is being posted. That last point is, in fact, more important. You can know how to write well, but that won't help when you have no idea what you are responding to. Besides, there is no clarification as to who the guide should be used by.
Having this thread stickied can be viewed as the site and staff condoning everything it says. This can also then be interpreted as "conform to what it says or be shunned". And we all know that if there's one thing that the brony community stands for, it's shunning people for being different!
This is true and I do agree with most of what the OP says, however it also says in the OP that it's merely a suggestion, not a straight up guideline as to how to post or anything else beyond what it was intended for. What I find particularly funny here is that somebody went out of their way to try and improve the site while people are being nit-picky about his intent, which we can all agree is noble. Don't like what's on the list? Contribute; help him revise it.
That's what all of my posts were doing. Addressing issues that were left unmentioned in the OP. Then suddenly infractions.
Okay, here's my contribution. Post however you want to. Do not change the way to are to make anyone else happy. Or do, but know that you are not true to yourself. People will like you or they won't. If you have to work at trying to make someone like you by pretending to be someone else, even by how you post, are they worth befriending?
Suggesting trolling and arguing for the list isn't a constructive way to add a contribution to it. Not to mention it sparked a minor debate. If you want to contribute, do so in a constructive manner, not in such a way that sends everyone's jimmies into rustle-overdrive.
