"I've been telling you that for years."

 

"Weeks, at least."

 

She laughed slightly, yawning tiredly.

"I'm going to sleep some more. Will you stay?"

 

She nodded, closing her eyes and burying her face in his chest.

"Okay. I love you."

 

She fell asleep quite quickly, drifting off.

Eli was sitting at the table, frowning deeply, his head in his hands.

 

He looked up and his whole face relaxed.

“Hey, you. What’s going on?”

 

“It’s just... very stressful. I’m not used to managing so many people. For so long it was just the two of us, you know?”

 

He reached out to her, squeezing her hand.

“I don’t know what I’d do without you,” he said honestly. “Seriously.”

 

“Just continue to act as my sanity, please.”
