"Took you long enough. I need you to do your ninja thing and help me clear these rooftops." Jack fired his weapon at the nearest rebels, forcing them back under cover. He'd reached a deadly stalemate with the rebels. Neither he nor they could leave get a clear shot without exposing themselves to the others' fire. "I'm gonna do what I can to keep these guys pinned down. I need you to get to their hiding spots and finish them off." He fired at another rebel who had popped his head up. The man quickly flung himself down. "There's a French team on the way. They're sitting ducks for these guys on the roofs. We should hurry."
"This is bad." Viktor said as he saw some rebels going towards him. "I'm going to reposition, you won't have eyes on you for a few minutes, so get ready for anythi-" Viktor said in the radio as an explosion sounded that made him move inmediatly out of there.
Disciple nodded as he looked over at the rooftops and took a running start before leaping gracefully between the buildings, this skill being one of his earliest developed when he grew up in the poorer areas of Rio. He headed in the direction opposite of the rebels, which seemed unusual to the rest of the group before Disciple turned around and headed to flank them. He took his knife and adjusted it to his rifle as a bayonet, all the while the Brazilian did his 'ninja' thing. When an entire group of rebels bursted through a door that led to a stairway, one of them aimed an RPG. Before it fired though, Diego came out of nowhere and shot the rebels with heavy explosives, dropping them while they kept running while it detonated the rest of the payload. The RPG wielding Rebel still managed to shoot his weapon, although not at his targets. As he died, the RPG shot directly downwards into a corner of the buildings support structure. A second or so later, the entire building collapsed as Diego barely had enough time to jump from the building into an open window about two stories below, across the street.
As the dust from the building was kicked up, a team of French infantry along with security convoy rolled out into the fray. Monk hurried along side one of the SUVs and opened fire on the rebels, yelling in French to the patrol and pointing them over to the hostiles. The Inspector, who was in the apartment, hurried up to the roof, carrying a metal briefcase. "We need to get out of here, now!" He yelled, ducking every time a bullet splashed near him.
Diego landed inside of the home of a small family, while they were having lunch and still in of what just happened across the street. The Brazilian just looked back out of the windows before finally deciding to speak, the first time he has done so since he landed in the Middle-East. He said only one word and got straight to the point, pointing upwards towards the ceiling. "Stairs?" The father of the family helped Disciple get to the door and point down the hallway, also trying to speak in English. "Down hallway, take left." Disciple nodded in appreciation before running off again. It wasn't that he didn't want to talk, it was that he was the silent type. Along that, he knew barely any English. He could make out a sentence or two, but that was usually his limit. Once he was back on the rooftops, he went back to rejoin the group and assist the Inspector on getting out of here alive.
Jack put a dozen rounds into the chest of one of the few rebels left on the rooftops, and then whirled to face the Inspector. "I told you to stay inside!" Grabbing the Inspector roughly by the shoulder, Jack half-led, half-dragged him down the stairs to front door of the building. He cautiously began approached the open door, and was greeted by a rebel waving an exotic looking sword. Jack pushed the Inspector to the ground and sidestepped the man's charge, delivering a brutal blow to the back of the rebel's skull with butt of his rifle. The swordsman hit the floor, out cold. Jack disarmed the unconscious swordsman and zip-tied his wrists and ankles. The French soldiers would probably be very interested in learning what the man knew. He then helped the Inspector to his feet. "What happened to the guys you were supposed to meet here? Did you get what you needed?"
The Inspector lifted the briefcase in his hand as he was picked up. "I got the information but my informant bugged out as soon as the fighting started." The front door swung open as Monk kicked it open and hurried in while taking potshots at the rebels, several French soldiers following in after him. Monk waved Jack and the inspector forward as two of the Frenchies quickly headed over to the subdued swordsman.
Jack loaded a grenade into his launcher and walked to the door. The French soldiers were making quick work of the remaining rebels. In the distance, he heard men shouting in Arabic, followed immediately by the sound of several French FAMAS rifles. "Looks like the Frenchies have this under control. It seems kind of strange that these rebel a-holes seemed to know right where we'd be. I'm guessing the informant told the wrong person where he was going today." He sighed. "Maybe I'm reading too much into this. I just can't shake the feeling that these rebels are too well-organized, and that they've got way too much manpower for this area."
Diego soon arrived back onto the scene, dropping down onto a balcony before throwing himself into the room cleanly and landing on his feet next to the Inspector.
Jack arched an eyebrow at Diego's acrobatic entrance, but said nothing. He was used to the man's eccentricities.
The Inspector quickly piled into the middle SUV along with several contractors and Monk. With in moments, a French Panhard VBL pulled around the cornoer and opened fire with mounted gun, ripping down any remaining rebels willing the fight. After a few bursts, the rebels quickly retreated back through the streets and alleyways, leaving the scene of carnage.
Jack walked the SUV at the rear of the convoy. The driver, whom Jack recognized as the same kid from before, wordlessly moved to the passenger seat as Jack approached. Jack nodded to the boy and climbed into the driver's seat. "Alright, let's get this show on the road. Where to now?"
"We're heading to the French base." Yelled the team leas as he hooped into the back of the lead vehicle. "We need to rearm and strategize our plan. Inspector, you have what you need?" A whimper followed over the radio from the Inspector. "I'll take that as a yes. Diego, Viktor, mount up or you're walking there!"
Viktor, who had just arrived to the scene, just noded whit his head and got in the same SUV as Jack. He got in the back and saw the same M60 from befor. "Oh, look who is back..." he said smiling as he hold it in his hands.
Jack gunned the engine, waiting for the stragglers. As he did, he took a closer look at the kid in the passenger seat. He seemed older than Jack had originally guessed, possibly in his late twenties. He was rather pale, with short brown hair, and brown eyes that betrayed his inexperience. Jack chuckled. "You've never been in real combat, have you? ... That was a rhetorical question. I can tell that you haven't. It's your eyes. You don't have the eyes of a killer." ( [MENTION=10567]Pixel Wonder[/MENTION] - There you go. Alois is in the story.)
"Oh-Uh, no.. Sir. Just got out of training recently, This is my first time in action." Damn I sound nervous, Alois pull yourself together, you've been trained for situations like these... Was It really that obvious though.. Don't worry you can still prove yourself yet! (Thanks Ridley)
"Welcome to the party comrade." Viktor said to Alois with a grin as he was getting ready the M60. "Hope all your training help you in the real thing."
Alois looked back at Viktor "Yeah, I hope so too, so where are we heading exactly?" Then turned back and looked out the window.
Not willing to wait for another ambush, the team leader decided it was time to move. "Alright everyone, we're heading to last operating French base about 3 clicks from here. We'll be moving through urban areas into the flat desert terrain so eyes wide for ambushes. Anyone left behind's gonna have to hoof it back." He said over the radio as the first two SUVs began hurrying out the area.
